Independent Everything: LIVE with R&B/Pop Singer/Producer/Songwriter ~ Karma

    in Music

As soon as you hear the music of singer & songwriter Karma who is based out of Los Angeles, CA; you will quickly realize that not all Karma is bad. Karma describes her style as R&B sprinkled with a twist of Hip Hop and Soul. Since the age of 7, Karma who was born Paula Renee Joseph absorbed every ounce of music she heard which eventually led her to
embark on her own music career. Appreciating music from artists who may not be number one on the charts all the time, Karma notes artists such as Teedra Moses & Aaliyah as influences in addition to legends such as Mary J. Blige, Gladys Knight, Lauryn Hill & of course Aretha Franklin just to name a few. Karma learned at an early age that being versatile with music would lead to a well rounded career so she immersed herself in to Jazz, R&B, Soul, Hip Hop plus Pop music to help cultivate a unique style all her own.

With the goal to create music that doesn’t have an expiration date & to become a brand that people can relate to more so than just an artist, Karma jumped feet first in to writing, singing & production. Not only has Karma been the back-up singer for several artists including Sharon Maree, Steve Harris, Brooke Taylor, Sheena Player, Minh & Amber Melody, which has allowed her to tour opening up for the likes of the Isley Bros and Maze Frankie Beverly; Karma has also written songs for several artists exclusively under Heat Pharm Productions.

Karma is now back working on her new project tentatively titled “Karma is A…”

    Taya Envy - R&B Artist - 3:15pm

Born in Springfield, Illinois; raised in Aurora, Colorado. Taya Envy; why I gave myself this stage name is, the person I felt and began to see myself grow into had potential of no other. Taya is half of my name; Envy is what I see beyond my eyes. My craft comes from within a place I couldn't lead you to, though I can take you to that place within my music.

Being raised by my "Maw maw" I grew an "Old Soul", around the house all I heard was music. My Maw maw gets all the credit. She'd always told me I'd be a star all I have to do is believe in myself. I was inspired by Marvin Gaye he was a man of many words. When I'd listen to him speak I heard a story, I heard the world through his song. Still to this day I'm always wondering "What's Going On". My motto is ""Keep It Real". That's the only way to be, being who you are is what makes you the person you want to evolve to be.

Independent Everything: LIVE with R&B/Pop Princess ~ Officially Za

    in Music

Born on February 14, 2000 in Philadelphia, PA, pop and R&B singer Zakikyah Whitfield is the baby of her family who they affectionately call Za. She grew up listening to music and watching videos of artists such as Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige and Chris Brown. She has always had a natural ear for music and raw talent filled with soul.

As a toddler Zakkiyah remembers her mom singing Musiq Soulchild’s “Love” and her singing along. She was always quick to learn lyrics to songs after only hearing it once. “I realized I wanted to sing when my sister heard me singing Mary J. Blige “Can’t Be Without You.” I was only six so she asked who was singing,” says Zakkiyah. At the age of 9, Zakkiyah heard of Justin Bieber’s story from struggle to super stardom. His story propelled Zakkiyah to work harder and follow her dreams.

Zakkiyah began performing at school and talent shows. “I was nervous but when I got on stage my nerves went away. I felt like I was home,” says Zakkiyah. Following her first performance, her friends and family gave her a hug and encouraged her to keep up the good work. Although Zakkiyah’s peers applauded and seemed to love her first performance, she began being bullied at school for being Muslim and appearing different from the other girls. Her mother encouraged her to come out of her shell and share her voice with other girls who have experienced bullying.

The teen wishes to inspire girls with low self-esteem to feel confident and pretty. Zakkiyah will release her first single “Pretty Girl” on iTunes Summer 2014. Zakkiyah will perform at schools and anti-bullying events to continue to spread her message of low self-esteem amongst girls. She also plans to launch a foundation for girls and record a fun pinktastic video for “Pretty Girl.”
