Science = God Obama Speech - China tanks

    in Politics

Hr1  God & science are not mutually exclusive. Dallas Museum of Earth History and Institute for Creation Research are equipping Christians to share creation via science.

Baltimore man on the street, Corey Prez Duncan, joins in to covering current events, Obama's speech, and the latest on the Baltimore trials.

Were Pres. Obama's tears at his press conference sincere? Too little too late? What do you think?

Hr2  Wayne Allyn Root is actively Tweeting about China's stock market meltdown. Tomorrow may be frightening day for Wall Street.

If I lived in TX, I'd be voting for Rick Green for Texa Supreme Court. He loves the Constitution! Help his campaign! You'll be glad you did. We need good Constitutionalists in our courts!

If you're a Christian, don't tell me God told you to vote for a liar who believes in abortion (murder).

Why is it the Muslim religion gets protections not afforded Christians? Shouldn't religious freedom apply to all of us?

Does air pollution drive crime rates up? One study says YES! Your tax dollars at work.

What a REAL hero looks like... Chinese soldier catches woman falling from 11 stories! True selflessness.

Inspectors refuse to prosecute VA officials who defrauded us of over $400k.

Hr3   Michael Hausam talks ATF ridiculousness. Licensed to sell guns to Mexican drug cartel? Re: gun control... You can buy anything online... including wives. But you can't buy guns (just try it!) And Obama's (crocodile) tears.

And Michael solves the gun control issue in 4 minutes...

The Classic Khmer Adventure On Wheels-Cambodia's Bamboo Train

    in Travel

I was staying in Battambang, Cambodia. While I was there I had to visit one of the area’s most famous attractions, the bamboo train. The bamboo train gets it’s name from the  bamboo deck or floorboard used that rests on top of the wheels that can transport anything from chickens and rice to people. In Khmer it’s called a Lorry and has been used since the Khmer Rouge shutdown of most regular train service in the country.

The Bamboo Train Station. Now where is the first class lounge? I could use a bloody mary about right now! Waiter?  Actually the place is quite charming and surprisingly not touristy feeling at all. At least not at the starting point in O Dambong, about 4 km from Battambang.

The bamboo train solves the biggest problem of a single track train line. What do you do when two trains meet from opposite directions? In the case of the bamboo train? Simple-move one off the track. This experience alone makes this one of the world’s all time great train rides.

A little heavy on the photo gear I know but I’m a one man show right now.

Farewells from the departure crew and we’re off.

The bamboo train was not the first flatbed type service in Cambodia. During the civil war of the 80’s and 90’s flatbed trains were used as mine sweepers ahead of the rest of the train. Service was free, risky but popular.

And here we go about 3 minutes into the ride and our first stop. Wow, now that’s taking service station to the next level. The first lorries or bamboo trains were actually hand driven with a pole, kind of like an Italian gondola. Small motorcycle or tractor engines, like this one were added later. The wheels? They’re actually from abandoned tanks! Yes get your ass off the deck so I can do my job, thank you! Excerpts from "Great Train Rides Of The World-Cambodia's Bamboo Train".

    Ethics of the Aquarium Trade

    in Environment

Join Ray Owczarzak in welcoming an old friend Doug Ludemann.  Doug and I worked together a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.  (Sorry for the reference). Doug has years of experience in the public and private aquarium fields and currently owns and operates Fish Geeks.

I’ve wanted to do a show on the ethical issues involved in the aquarium hobby and field for some time.  When I first began my pet trade career at the age of 16 at a small mom and pop shop in Illinois, I was wide eyed and ignorant to the dark side of the trade.  I sold snake head after snake head destined for home tanks without any thought about the possible impacts.  Now that I live in Maryland, where the snake head makes advances year after year in waterways, I wonder about my past actions.

What other dark secrets are there in the aquarium hobby?  I think, in retrospect, that any financial endeavor that requires the sale of live animals inherently has a few dark secrets.  In fact, they are too numerous to mention in an hour show, but we will give it a shot.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe that the industry and hobby have many ethical companies and the preponderance of hobbyists are top notch.  But as the saying goes, a few bad apples…  Hopefully the discussion will provide some food for thought on the businesses that listeners use.  Making ethical choices are up to the end consumer.  We as a people have the best chance at guiding the future.  So don’t just sit back be a Witness, but make a change for the better.  As always, I hope that people join in the conversation and call in with thoughts and stories.

    in Books

Meet author Gabriella Kovac. She'll be joining me on the Author Chat show to discuss her new book, Georgina: Holocaust Survivor Stories.

    About the book:

December 1944, whilst heavy snows fall over Budapest and soldiers battle for the streets, Georgina, a young Jewish woman, is nearly starving to death with her newborn son.

The battle outside is one of the most savage of the entire war. She
knows that to go into is virtually a death sentence. But she must find food within the next few hours or her baby will certainly die.
For Georgina there is no choice. Alone and completely vulnerable, she heads out into the freezing cold.

    About the author:

Gabriella Kovac was born in Hungary, Just after the Second World War had drawn to a close. She lived through the Hungarian uprising against the Communists in 1956, and remembers vividly Russian tanks sitting under her bedroom window. Through the genius of her mother Georgina, their family managed to leave the Communist bloc and come to Australia in 1957. Gabriella is a passionate public speaker, chef (her favourite dish is Hungarian Goulash) and has been very successful in fashion, even authoring the book "Magic Drafting," which can also be found on Amazon. Friends and Family Online Bible Study This Week's Instructor DANNY K HARRIS

    in Religion

Join in this Wednesday 7 PM CST as we continue with the Book of Mark starting with the 12th Chapter!  We are excited and honored to have my friend, my cousin and most importantly The Lord's friend Danny K Harris who will be leading this week's study!  Join in and be blessed!

Mark 12:1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.'

8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

The lamentations of Amos \ As lamentações de Amós

    in Christianity

There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court and detest the one who tells the truth.
You levy a straw tax on the poor and impose a tax on their grain. ¶ Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, ¶ you will not live in them; ¶ though you have planted lush vineyards, ¶ you will not drink their wine.
For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes ¶ and deprive the poor of justice in the courts.
Therefore the prudent keep quiet in such times, for the times are evil.
    Amos 5:10-13
