Transportation reporter Dave Forster joins Pilot Radio to discuss issues with billing. Forster has been following the issue of the region’s first large-scale venture into all-electronic tolling for the last eight months. On Tuesday, Sept. 23, The Virginian-Pilot published a story that outlined the various challenges - at least a half dozen - that motorists have exprienced since the venture went into effect eight months ago.
Join Dave at 11 a.m. Tuesday to talk about the tolls and what motorists can do to help themselves.
Pilot Radio speaks with columnist Jamesetta Walker about her cover story "Natural Beauty" - a brief look inside the world of natural hair and the social implications of donning natural hair among women of color. Jamesetta examined the topic from the view of the founder of a hair and fashion expo this weekend in Newport News that promotes natural hair and teaches women how to care for their natural mane. Jamesetta provides commentary on fashion, lifestyle and consumer affairs.

Join us this November 12, 2014, Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. PST and 7:00 EST for an informative and thoughtful show. Our special guest is Tom Bunn. After graduating from Wake Forest University in Psychology, Captain Tom entered the U.S. Air Force. Number one in his class when he got his wings in 1960, he was given his choice of assignments, and chose to fly the Air Force's first supersonic jet fighter. Captain Truman “Slim” Cummings started the first fear of flying program at Pan Am. Captain Tom worked with him on that program until, in 1982, he founded SOAR in order to develop more effective methods for dealing with anxious flyers. This led to graduate school at Fordham University where he earned a Masters Degree with top honors, and then did several years of postgraduate study at the Gestalt Center Of Long Island, the New York Training Institute For Neurolinguistic Programming, and The Masterson Institute. In 1990, he was licensed as a therapist and has been practicing ever since, with anxious flyers as his sole clientele. Captain Bunn has appeared on Good Morning America, Regis, CNN, MSNBC and was featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Newsweek Magazine (cover story), The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and other publications. Join us for an exciting show! You asked for it and we deliver!

Mayor Will Sessoms, a president of TowneBank, has voted dozens of times with the City Council on matters directly benefiting developers who borrowed at least $140 million from the bank. The votes violate Sessoms’ promise not to let his duties to the bank conflict with his public obligations, and some may also violate state law. Reporter John Holland talks to Pilot Radio about how the story came about and what readers should expect next.
Pilot business reporter Carolyn Shapiro covers consumer affairs, the retail industry, utilities and telecommunications for The Virginian-Pilot's business desk.
She will share with us the inside scoop of some of the region's big retail projects, like the Dollar Tree/Family Dollar merger, the overhaul of Lynhaven Mall and the sale of McArthur Center, and the closing of Sears at Chesapeake Square. This is part two of our final conversation with Carrie about retail in Hampton Roads.
