It has all but abandoned proper teaching of reading, writing, and arithmetic. In the early 1990's, Americans saw banner headlines telling us that 92.000,000 of us (half of the adult population) were functionally illiterate. Boston, in the early 1800's had a literacy rate well over 90%. The slide in moral standards and climb in violence and abuse has precisely paralleled the desertion of the Judeo-Christian Values worldview, upon which America was founded and our Constitution written; ... This is a nation engaged in self-destruction. These appalling results cannot be accounted for by any event other than the rejection by the American government of God and the Judeo-Christian Values worldview from American civil life…” – more informaiton in 11/9th/2014 episode “The Philosophies of the Founding Fathers PartII”

    Special Guest: Morgana Ray

Morgana emerged from an ancestral line of visionaries, educators, counselors and healers. Her earliest American ancestors arrived on the coast of New England in the 17th century at the beginning of the New England settlements. Others followed within the next 100 years. Coming as she does from this kind of traditional American history, she has always felt drawn to the positive aspects of American culture, traditions, communities and can-do philosophies. Although they discussed various interpretations of reality and the like and did not consider themselves as "psychic" per se, but their instincts for understanding the needs of their communities were strong. Like her forbears, she believes that all beings are entitled to freedom, love, happiness, protections, abundance and a strong sense of purpose.

Morgana became seriously enthused about the various forms of divination following a reading she was given by a family friend at the age of 15.  Since then she has pursued higher awareness and applied energy techniques related to Eastern / Western religions, the so called "New Age" philosophers, and Astrology. She has an M.A. in psychology and is a Reiki Master.

Job, Storm, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and the Theodicy Problem

    in Christianity

Many have had issues with Christianity due to what is termed the "theodicy problem." That is to say, if God is all powerful and all loving, then why is there evil in the world? Some would claim that since evil exists, God must be all loving, but not all powerful--or all powerful and not all loving. Philosophers claim to have solved the theodicy problem. However, the solution was already provided in the book of Job. In this episode, Pastor Brian examines the theodicy problem as it relates to the book of Job.

BWE Online Bible study with Elder Marcia Boynton

    in Spirituality

We should read and study the Bible because it is God's Word to us. The Bible is literally "God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16). In other words, it is God's very words to us. There are so many questions that philosophers have asked that God answers for us in Scripture. What is the purpose to life? Where did I come from? Is there life after death? How do I get to heaven? Why is the world full of evil? Why do I struggle to do good? In addition to these "big" questions, the Bible gives much practical advice in areas such as: What do I look for in a mate? How can I have a successful marriage? How can I be a good friend? How can I be a good parent? What is success and how do I achieve it? How can I change? What really matters in life? How can I live so that I do not look back with regret? How can I handle the unfair circumstances and bad events of life victoriously?

We should read and study the Bible because it is totally reliable and without error. The Bible is unique among so-called "holy" books in that it does not merely give moral teaching and say, "Trust me." Instead, we can read it for ourselves.

Sunday on the Front Stoop, More about Bucky.

    in Energy

We are continuing our 'conversation' with Bucky Fuller.  Since it is no longer possible to speak with him personally, we will do the next best thing by referring to his writing and selecting some of his quotes to discuss.  We will try to imagine what he would say about the state of economics today - some 20+ years after his death.  Also, what would he have said abou the concept of the human energy renewable measure, hrem.  We beg his pardon in advance if in the course of our program we do offend.  He is one of the worlds great poet philosophers and we are lucky to have the advantage of his life's work to add to our own understanding.
