Taylor "Gator" Phillips and Ed Smith break down the Tigers trading Ian Krol and Gabe Speier to the Atlanta Braves for Cameron Maybin, which means Rajai Davis is likely gone. We'd also like to note that the "Tigers sign Zach Greinke" article is a fake article, which means it didn't happen. The Tigers also hired Lloyd McClendon as the AAA Toledo Mud Hens manager.
We also touch on the Lions hiring Rod Wood as president, announcing their relocation on radio to 760 (am) WJR, and winning 18-13 over the Oakland Raiders at Ford Field, which pretty much ruins their chances at getting the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, which still stands to be Ole Miss Rebels junior defensive end Robert Nkemdiche.
Moving over to college football, the #9 Michigan State Spartans upset the #3 Ohio State Buckeyes 17-14 at The Horseshoe, and the Michigan Wolverines pull away with a 28-16 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions at Happy Valley.
In college basketball, the Wolverines fell flat against the Xavier Musketeers 86-70 AT HOME, while the Michigan State Spartans blast through Arkansas Pine Bluff 92-46 and took care of the Eastern Michigan Eagles 89-65.
The Pistons beat the Timberwolves 96-86 at Target Center but give one away to the Washington Wizards 97-95 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. They also got destroyed by the Milwaukee Bucks 109-88 on the road.
The Red Wings hang on in regulation to beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 but give up another late third-period game-tying goal and still beat the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in overtime at Scottrade Center. Plus, former Red Wing Landon Ferraro was claimed off waivers by the Boston Bruins.
Taylor "Gator" Phillips and Ed Smith recap the Lions' 18-16 upset win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, which ended their 24-game losing streak in that buildin, the Red Wings' three games over the weekend at home against the San Jose Sharks, in Boston against the Bruins, and in Ottawa against the Senators, the Pistons' final two games in their west-coast road trip in Los Angeles at Staples Center against the Clippers and Lakers, and the two college football games, which are Maryland Terrapins/Michigan State Spartans and Michigan Wolverines/Indiana Hoosiers.
We preview the Wednesday Night Rivalry game on NBCSN between the Pistons' first home game in two weeks against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
We also give a quick preview of College Basketball in the Mitten for the 2015-2016 involving the Wolverines and Spartans.
Join Vaccine Rights Attorney Alan Phillips, J.D. as he discusses California's SB 277 Referendum, Autism Action Network's summary of presidential candidates' views on vaccines, how nurses can avoid agreeing to get vaccines for work when applying for work, Vaccine Refusal Forms, and Alan's upcoming presentation at the HP World Wide Choice Conference in Dallas, TX Oct 2-4, 2015. Email Attorney Phillips at firstname.lastname@example.org with your vaccine rights questions, find vaccine studies at vaccineresearchlibrary.com, and sign up for the Vaccine Rights E-Newsletter at vaccinerights.com/newslettersignup.html.
Taylor "Gator" Phillips and Ed Smith discuss FOX Sports Detroit dropping the ball by showing Red Wings TV viewers the commercials instead of Sergei Fedorov celebrating his Hockey Hall Of Fame with a pregame ceremonial puck drop before the team's game against the Washington Capitals and analyze that game.
We also recap the Pistons/Kings game and preview the rest of their west-coast road swing in LA.
We brielfy break down why the Green Bay Packers will beat the Lions at Lambeau Field again and rag on Sheldon White's "win-now edict" and "no rebuild" message from Martha Ford.
And some College Football In The Mitten talk about Maryland Terrapins at Michigan State Spartans, Michigan Wolverines at Indiana Hoosiers, and Toledo Rockets at Central Michigan Chippewas.
Plus we discuss what players the Tigers are showing interest in and them adding Jay Sartori as senior director of baseball operations and analytics.
Taylor "Gator" Phillips and Ed Smith recap what went down in the following games:
Rutgers Scarlet Knights/Michigan Wolverines
Michigan State Spartans/Nebraska Conhuskers
Red Wings/Toronto Maple Leafs
Dallas Stars/Red Wings
Pistons/Portland Trail Blazers
Taylor also previews the upcoming game between his Central Michigan Chippewas and the no-longer-undefeated Toledo Rockets, who suffered an upset loss at home to the Northern Illinois Huskies. That game begins at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mt. Pleasant at CMU Tuesday at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
Both he and Ed also preview the Wings/Caps and Pistons/Kings.

Taylor "Gator" Phillips and Ed Smith preview and analyze Week 9 of College Football in the Mitten, including the Michigan Wolverines/Minnesota Golden Gophers and Central Michigan Chippewas/Akron Zips and NFL Week 8 from London, England, between the Lions and Kansas City Chiefs. The Pontiac Silverdome will be demolished.
We also evaluate the Red Wings through their first 10 games and the Pistons through their first 2 games in their regular seasons. The Pistons will retire Ben Wallace's and Chauncey Billups's numbers up to the rafters at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and former Pistons head coach Flip Saunders passes away.
In baseball, the Tigers hire Rich Dubee as their new pitching coach. How good is he? What could he bring to the table in Jeff Jones's cleats? Also, starting pitcher Daniel Norris feels "cancer free" after his thyroid cancer surgery.
Taylor "Gator" Phillips and Ed Smith discuss the big news reported from ESPN.com that the Lions have fired general manager Martin Mayhew and president Tom Lewand, preview the Michigan Wolverines/Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Michigan State Spartans/Nebraska Cornhuskers, recap the Red Wings edging the Tampa Bay Lightning at Joe Louis Arena and the Pistons suffering their first loss of the season to the Indiana Pacers at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and discuss the Tigers declining closing pitcher Joe Nathan's $10 million option for 2016.
When we think of 'overcoming our fears' some of the mental images that might be conjured are fire-walking, skydiving and enrolling in a public speaking course.
There's nothing wrong with those - but if you don't want to be a lecturer, fire-walker or sky diver then there's probably a bit more we can do for you than that. Lisa Phillips joins me for this week's episode to give us some more soothing and encouraging ways to get outside our comfort zone and turn the volume down on the negative self-talk that we create in our heads (this one involves a tiny bit of fire).
- The proper way to free ourselves from the mental slavery we call self-doubt
- Creating a new meaning about your experiences that isn't about you (and how Lisa dealt with her divorce by not making things personal)
- What's really going on in the minds of other people whose opinions about us cause self-doubt (spoiler alert: it's likely nothing to do with you)
