    Parents and PGCPS eRadio with Host William E. Rogers

    On Thursday, January 16, 2014, William E. Rogers, host of Parents and PGCPS eRadio will discuss the importance of addressing the needs of those in our communities living and working with a disability.  Joining him will be Julia Hardeman-Tsadick, Executive Officer for the National Congress of Black Women Culture of People with Disabilities Committee.


    The National Congress of Black Women Culture of People with Disabilities Committee was established to serve the brilliant, yet often overlooked population within the disability community. The NCBW Culture of People with Disabilities Committee was envisioned and designed by NCBW’s Chair, Dr. E. Faye Williams, and Sapphire Harris, first committee Chair who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of all women, both the able bodied and disabled alike.


    In the second half of the show, Dr. Debra Mahone Executive Director, Federal and State Programs for Prince George’s County Public Schools will provide an update of the work taking place in the Title 1 office and schools. In addition, Dr. Mahone, will share information about the TEDL initiative.


    Dr. Mahone is a highly skilled, executive leader with experience in strategic planning, leadership development, performance management & organizational protocols, school improvement reform, school administration and supervision, technology integration, program and curriculum development, professional development and training, budget and finance, federal grant reporting procedures, personnel policies, procedures and evaluation; public, community, and media relations; oral and written communication and public speaking.

    PGCPS TEACHER WILLIAM THOMAS named Teacher Of The Year

    MARYLAND TEACHER OF THE YEAR
    Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS)
    AP Government teacher, William Thomas, was named
    the 2009 Maryland Teacher of the Year. Thomas
    currently teaches at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High
    School. The surprise announcement was made at the
    culminating event of the Maryland Teacher of the
    Year, the 18th Annual Awards Gala hosted by the
    Maryland State Department of Education at Martin’s
    West in Baltimore.
    “Mr. Thomas exemplifies the high caliber of
    teachers we have here in Prince George’s County.
    We are extremely proud of him and hope to see even
    more teachers nominated next year from our County
    public schools,” said Verjeana M. Jacobs, Esq., Chair,
    Prince George’s County Board of Education. “It is
    evident that Mr. Thomas has demonstrated
    unwavering enthusiasm for teaching and determination to improve the achievements of
    all students, which is in line with the Board of Education’s Core Beliefs and
    Commitments, and the Pay for Performance model. His and other teachers’ expertise
    has afforded equitable opportunities for all students to graduate college or work ready.”
