Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Pete Gitlin!

    in Music

Pete Gitlin is one of those creative artists with whom I identify a great deal. Not only was born on the East Coast - then moved - but he's also a baby boomer who has a TON of stories under his belt about all kinds of music. And he has PLAYED all kinds, too.  For decades!  Guitarist, bassist and composer, Pete was inspired by the usual suspects who have master strings - but also by Miles Davis individually and the Beatles collectively.

As a teen and into his 20's, he performed in Rock, Fusion and Funk bands. Then, he took a big break to raise a family and work his way up the corporate ladder.  THAT type of determination earned him a Vice-President slot in a Fortune 500 company.

In the Spring of 2007, Pete decided to go for it - and devote his time and energy to writing and playing - and returned to playing in front of people who had always appreciated his work.  One of those was John Herrera, from the legendary Phoenix group, Turning Point.  A collaboration blossomed and the result was Pete's debut CD, " Full Circle and The Great Temptation."

"Amplify" is his sophomore project - which showcases the talents of Cindy Bradley and Jeff Kashiwa.  But it's Pete who truly is the star of this eclectic show :)  With every track, a new feel and passion for multiple genres jumps from disc into your ears - the authenticity is something to behold.  And NOW that unique slant on music has taken another turn - with the single, "Epiphany (For the Children)."  With breathtaking Lea Cappelli on vocals, Pete has written a song that was inspired by the tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary School.  A moving tribute to what is urgently a priority in our world.  Please join us as we listen to this wonderful tribute - one that honestly defines category - as Pete joins us on 2/25.  It promises to be an energetic and informative interview!
