Lies, Damned Lies and PETA, or, "Throwing It Away"

    in Entertainment

Tonight on a hungover edition of the Never Daunted Radio Network, we emerge from an extended Labor Day Weekend with news that PETA is up to their old tricks of misinformation and Sea Kittens with their latest claim that pregnant mothers eating chicken parts – or, more specifically, chicken wings – could shrink your baby’s man parts. We'll pluck through the BS and get to the barebones of the matter. Make sure you have plenty of Blu Cheese handy.Next, a man jailed for rape is shocked to learn that his victim may have gotten the last laugh as he may have contracted HIV as a result of the assualt. We'll see if this was a case of irony or bitter justice.Later, the #DontBeDumb train pulls into Indy, as The Indianapolis Colts released rookie safety John Boyett on Tuesday after he was arrested early Monday morning outside a downtown nightclub, after being denied into a bar because he was too drunk. Instead of calling it a night, he decided to inform a cop that he couldn't be arrested because he's "a Colts player," that is, until today. We'll examine his stupidity and how it's become more and more an acceptable choice to throw money in the toilet. Finally, on this week's Creamo Cream Essentials, we bid a fond farewell to summer with our first greatest hits album: Songs You Know By Heart from the Mayor of Margaritaville Jimmy Buffett. We'll share some of the classic "Big 8" and explain why it's important to have this album handy if you love summer. All this and more, tonight on the Never Daunted Radio Network!

    Project Empowerment - Marc Bekoff

    in Self Help

Project Empowerment is honored to have on author and Professor Marc Bekoff.  He is professor emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder.  He has worked alongside leading writers and activists including Jane Goodall, Peter Singer, and PETA cofounder Ingrid Newkirk.

We’ll be discussing his new book Rewilding Our Hearts: Building Pathways of Compassion and Coexistence.

In wildlife conservation work, rewilding refers to habitat restoration and the creation of corridors between preserved lands to allow declining populations to rebound.  Marc Bekoff, one of the world’s most engaging animal experts and activists, here applies rewilding to human attitudes.  He argues that unless we rewild ourselves, becoming profoundly reconnected to nature and fundamentally shifting our consciousness, our conversation efforts will have but limited impact.

Please join us as we’ll be discussing this a so much more.  You can learn more about his work at www.literati.net/authors/marc-bekoff

Episode 35 - Jesus People For Animals, a conversation with PETA's Taylor Radig

    in Vegetarian

PETA's coordinator of Christian outreach and engagement. In her words ... "A lifelong evangelical Christian, I went vegan in 2002 when I began to learn about factory farming. I was particularly moved by the image of baby chicks who were having part of their sensitive beaks seared off with a hot blade, an abuse that didn't match my understanding of what it meant to be a compassionate follower of Christ."
