So many of us spend so much of our time trying to please others instead of aiming to please God. We may not even realize we are people pleasers, but we can feel the exhaustive and draining effects of our actions. We are wondering why we do not feel joy from doing things for others. Many times we in fact are doing things we do not even want to do in the first place due to hidden motives in our hearts. This is not to say that there may not be times that God calls us to do for others when we might not agree or feel like it. However, even when this occurs, if we are following God there is always a peace and joy in our spirits when we remain in his will for our lives.
People pleasing is so much different than making sacrifices and necessary compromises. It also has so much less to do with the other person and more to do with us. It is one of those examples when we must leave the victim mentality (last week's show) and realize when we are a part of the problem.
People pleasing is something I have struggled with my whole life and I have been growing from it during my healing journey. I just hope this show will offer encouragement for others to start focusing on pleasing God and in turn others around will be blessed.

People pleasing. Some of us do it to be liked, to get along to go along or because we feel obligated. The problem with placing ourselves in this position is not just it being the opposite of genuine giving; it also makes us feel disconnected from ourselves. We are trying to control. Believing we can control how others perceive us, and creating an image (true or not) that we feel is acceptable. So, we place ourselves in a prison of limitation, by living into this 'image' and not being true to ourselves. Not only is people-pleasing a form of lying, it doesn't actually work. All that effort for no pay off....frustration, resentment and non-fulfillment. If we really saw ourselves through the eyes of others, we would have a mixed bag...and then what would we do? Be a chameleon? Or turn inward and go with who we really are and what we want to do? Join me to find out!
1.) What spirit is in operation when we seek to please people? 2.) Is there a right time to be a people pleaser? 3.) What does God require of us towards Him and our fellowman?

On this first day of October 2015, Tony welcomes Curt Guyette of the ACLU to discuss for the umpteenth time about the water crisis in Flint, and the reason this is presented this way is that politicians, (mostly) the mainstream media and many others have completely ignored this ongoing issue. Well, there is an update and we are there to deliver it, and it's about time. We'll also check in with Lonnie Scott with Progress Michigan who has a thing or ten to say about this issues as well and our National Political Director, Richard Zombeck, will be with us to help Tony defend Planned Parenthood, but it is the Republicans that are giving Richard all of the ammunition he needs to shut them up -- or not!
