Powerful Peace with Mark Donald
Mark retired from Navy with nearly 25 years of service in special operations and military medicine. During that time he served as Reconnaissance Marine, a Hospital Corpsman, a Navy SEAL and a Physician Assistant. Following retirement Mark has focused his efforts on issues supporting America's veterans and their families while he completed his memoir, Battle Ready, Memoir of a SEAL Warrior Medic, in which he openly discusses his personal battles with the lingering effects of combat.
Mark departed the service on 1 January 2010 as one of the highest decorated Afghanistan and Iraqi war veterans and the most decorated Medical Service Corps officer in the history of the United States Navy. His personal awards include the Navy Cross, the highest medal that can be awarded by the Department of the Navy and the nations second highest award for valor, second only to the Medal of Honor. He is also a recipient of the Silver Star, the Bronze Star for Valor, the Purple Heart, the Honduran Medal of Merit and various other personal decorations and campaign medals. Currently Mark serves as the Executive Director for NSWKIDS a non-profit supporting the children of the special operations community and volunteers Director of the Member Life Assistance Program for the UDT-SEAL Association.Tags: SEAL Medicine PTSD TBI Combat

Powerful Peace in the Classroom with Jaime Poland Part 2
Jaime Poland is a 12 year veteran high school English teacher with a Master’s Degree of Arts in English and Education. She is known for her innovative teaching strategies that connect the content of lessons to lifelong learning skills for better individuals in a better society. She has conducted writing workshops for her school and has earned multiple awards for the integration of technology in her classroom. She was most recently named teacher of the month in her school district for her use of social media while teaching Powerful Peace. Her first article about education will be published in the debut edition of De Oppresso Liber, a private military industry magazine.

Peace Paradigm - Still In Saigon - No More War
Still in Saigon", is a song written by Dan Daley and performed by the Charlie Daniels Band and released on their 1982 album Windows. It was written by Daley in May 1981. The song is an effective portrayal of the plight of the American Vietnam veteran ten years after the war; it was part of an early 1980s wave of attention to the subject, presaging treatments such as Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." The story is told ten years after Daniels, as the protagonist, faced being drafted into the Vietnam War. Though he could have escaped to Canada as a war protester, or chosen to stay in school under a student deferment (either way avoiding being sent), believing he was "brought up differently/I couldn't break the rules" elected to go ahead and serve. He remained in the military for "thirteen months and fifteen days", with the latter portion taking an emotional toll on Daniels ("one minute I'd kneel down and pray/The next I'd stand and curse"). The emotional problems only worsened upon his return, as he came home to a bitterly divided family – his war-protesting younger brother labels him a "killer" while his father calls him a "vet". Moreover, he began to exhibit signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from his service (constantly looking behind doors for the enemy, and exhibiting flashbacks during the rainy summer season); symptoms which ten years later continue to plague him.
