Luis Munoz might not live in Costa Rica any longer - but he takes his homeland with him whenever he composes and plays. He is able to bring his country's folklore and rhythm to music in a way that defies description. Lush, tranquil, passionate. He moves your mind geographically to locations where you have never been physically. But you can feel the outlay of the land when you hear the direction of the song. It's unbelievable.
Educated in both music and architechture, Luis finished his degree in the former at the University of California, Santa Barbara - where he now resides. Under some amazing tutelage, Luis found his way in composition - he has worked with documentaries, animated films, dance and theater projects. In the late 80's, he made his way into the recording end of the business. In the 90's, more work that honed his intuituve skills. By 2004, "Downbeat" was singing his praises. "Vida" was named "Best Latin Jazz CD - and, in 2006 - Luis was recognized by his birthplace for Best Jazz Composer/Producer.
"Of Soul and Shadow" and "Invisible" followed - two immensely respected works that brought more international recognition. With "Luz" in 2013, Luis introduced the amazing voices of Magos Herrera and Teka Penteriche. At that point in his career, he was overwhelmed with the praise for his musicianship and creativity. With "Voz", he takes both to new levels. Bringing Magos and Teka back to the studio - with the addition of Claudia Acuna, he has imbued a new sense of truth into the mix. With mostly voice on this album, the listener is engaged in the moment - with both original and beloved songs - that will compel you to travel. You may not have a ticket - but you WILL travel. The best vacation EVER :) Join us on 9/29 at two p.m. Eastern.
Protests at the University of Missouri, Yale and Ithaca College have exposed just how radicalized college campuses have become over the years. Missouri students used the threat of a football player boycott to get the school president fired for alleged racial incidents that may not have actually happened. Today's college students, fully indocrinated by their professors, see racism around every corner and advocate an extreme form of "social justice." They claim to seek diversity and tolerance, yet are brutally intolerant of anyone with views contrary to their own. What can be done about the cultural rot in our universities? The great Michael Lane, host of the Like It or Not with Michael Lane podcast, calls in to discuss.

Doing What's Right:
Doing what's right in an age of PC revisionist history and terrorist attacks means telling the truth. The truth is that islam is a murderous, barbaric, death cult that wages war on every level upon which it is possible to wage war. The truth is that Christian values are the best platform upon which to build a stable society. The truth is that, unless individuals take responsibility for themselves and their own actions, just as in politics, that vacuum will be filled by someone or something else. Big government is not the answer. Self government, when it is directed by an abiding belief in God - by which I mean the Christian God - leads to a successful, secure and stable society, inasmuch as any society made up of human beings may be said to encompass those qualities.

In the NFL, the Giants made out very well in the NFC East despite having a bye week, as the Eagles and Redskins both lost, giving the Giants a full-game lead in the division. The Jets, like the Eagles, missed an opportunity to get into at least a share of a playoff position. However, the Patriots could go up five games in the division with six to play if they defeat Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. We put a bow on Week11 and look at the playoff races around the NFL. ***
