    Pimp Pastors

    in Entertainment

We want to cover a major problem in society in regards to pastors using their position to pimp the people. The churches these pastors are over guilt trip and God fear people into giving tithes. Some people can't afford to pay their bills but they give their last to the church. The church isn't the issue at all because if people would do what Jesus instituted we wouldn't have this discussion. As a pastor it isn't right to do that to your people. No many people want to call them out but we will. Martin Luther King was a pastor and look at his impact on the world. Today's pastors have more money and opportunity to do what Martin did and greater. Do they do this? That is what we want to discuss.

The Biblical Emphasis on Pastors and Their Authority: Where is It? Romans 15:14

    in Christianity

The church invests billions in the education and accreditation of pastors. Their authority is expressed in church polity, and they are seen as the gatekeepers of orthodoxy. When one surveys the emphasis on pastors in the church, certainly we should expect to easily find abundant information about them in the Scriptures. A cursory observation of Scripture should reveal their purpose, scope of authority, and a description of their duties.

But in reality, the lack of biblical emphasis on pastors and elders is stunning when compared to the emphasis experienced in the institutional church. Furthermore, their assumed authority is nowhere to be found in holy writ.

Why is this? And how significant is it to the race God has set before us?

This is a continuance of our 1John series. Join us and add to the discussion as we seek God's wisdom together as an army of one.

John Carver Show - It's ALL Perspective

    in Self Help

One of the most difficult things, in life, to grasp is perspective.  That is, to look at your situations from multiple angles.  In this show that is what I will be discussing.  Some of what I will be sharing includes:

Perspective is not what we see, but the way we see it. [Kent Crockett, I Once Was Blind, But Now I Squint, Chattanooga, TN: AMG Publishers, 2004, 14]

“What we see depends mainly on what we look for.” ? John Lubbock

“The older you get, the more you understand how your conscience works. The biggest and only critic lives in your perception of people's perception of you rather than people's perception of you.” ? Criss Jami

“Remember, you see in any situation what you expect to see.” ? David J. Schwartz

    Attitude

William James said: “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitude of mind.”

    Dear Friend:

As I circle overhead, I can see that you are about to give up. It looks to you as though there is no way up and no way out. You feel trapped, with no place to turn. I understand. You see, I have been there. I also, walked where you walk, and I, too, experienced the feelings you are experiencing now. I have dropped this letter and this map to encourage you. There IS a way of escape. What I can see from MY vantage point you cannot see from yours.

To you, that boulder is immovable and unscalable. From down there it would appear that way. But flying overhead, it becomes apparent that just to your right, at the edge, what appears to be a massive crack in that rock, is, in effect, a passage way. You see, someone has been there before you, and made the way for you...

    ...and much more
