    Convention Hall in Asbury Park NJ

    Asbury Park Convention Hall is a 3,600-seat indoor EXHIBIT CENTER located on the BOARDWALK and on the BEACH in ASBURY PARK, MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ, United States.


    It was built between 1928 and 1930 and is used for sports, concerts and other special events.


    Adjacent to the Convention Hall is the PARAMOUNT THEATRE; both are connected by a Grand Arcade.


    Both structures are listed in the NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES.


    The first official convention held at Convention Hall was the annual meeting of the NEW YORKS FRIAR'S CLUB on July 5, 1930. 


    Since that time, the hall has hosted countless conventions, community meetings, sporting events, trade shows and antique automobile shows. Since 1951, the Monmouth County Cotillion Society has held its annual Debutante Ball at Convention Hall. 


    The hall is also the alternate venue for Asbury Park's Easter Parade in the event of inclement weather.


    Since February 2008, Convention Hall has been the home venue for the Jersey Shore Roller Girls roller derby league

    A nationally and internationally recognized Recreation and Parks professional and public speaker, Idris is a highly motivated, energetic, passionate leader with vision and a pragmatic approach to recreation issues and needs. He has developed programs that deliver quality recreation services in a cost-efficient manner and is committed to enhancing and preserving a high quality of life through a wide variety of leisure, cultural and community services in well-maintained facilities. Idris has 32 years of progressive experience in administrative and supervisory capacities. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Administration and is a graduate of NRPA Pacific Marketing & Revenue Sources Management School.


    Idris was recently selected for the 2015 California Park & Recreation Society Service Award of Excellence and Fellowship/Hall of Fame Recipient! This is the highest award achievable for a professional in the Parks and Recreation field in the State and this is the first time an employee of the City of Manhattan Beach has been chosen for this honor. The awards ceremony will take place on March 11 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento. In addition, Idris is also celebrating his 30 year work anniversary in March.
