Gowing up Mayberry: Neil Shelton is Learning About Parental Alienation

    in Dads and Family

Neil Shelton joins us this evening to discuss parental alienation at the hands of corrupt family courts.  Also joining us is Raquel Okayay who who has investigated and written about the bias of family courts in favor of those with the most money and leverage.

In this instance, divorce was not enough.  Neil's ex is also trying to divorce him from his children. Neil is not asking for anything extraordinary, nor is he asking for special treatment.  Having been repeatedly jailed on false charges, and having his businesses and livlihood wiped out, the last injury was the taking of his right to see his children.

The harassment of Neil Shelton and the violation of his rights and those of his children appears to be a top priority for those who pull the strings on behalf of the former Mrs. Shelton.

4/14/2015 Community Paramedicine and Physicians Advisory Committee

    in Caregiving

The Wisconsin EMS Live broadcast on Tuesday, April 14 is dedicated to Community Paramedicine and recent action by the Physicians Advisory Committee.

The CommunityParamedicine conversation will run from 9:00 to 9:40 a.m.  Our guests include Minnesota Ambulance Association’s Buck McAlpin, PAAW President Patrick Ryan, and city of Milwaukee Fire Department’s Michael Wright.  All three are deeply involved in CP and building the infrastructure to deliver it the right way here in Wisconsin.  Like anything new or evolving some education and learning is required to move forward, and there will be many questions to ask and answer.

Community Paramedicine programs have been evolving in Minnesota, Colorado and Texas.  An architect in Minnesota’s CP development is Buck McAlpin, director of government affairs for the Minnesota Ambulance Association and North Memorial Medical Transportation in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.  Given his experience in leading CP concepts in Minnesota, McAlpin’s knowledge and expertise is being sought nationally, to include by the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin.

At 9:40 a.m. we’ll be joined by Dr. Suzanne Martens, Chair of the Physicians Advisory Committee.  Her group recently recommended use of nitrous oxide as an option to control pain management at the Advanced EMT level and higher.  Another recommendation is allowing one paramedic and one trained airway technician to perform a medication assisted advanced airway procedure that under current situations requires two paramedics.

As always, the live show offers caller questions.  Make sure to listen live on your phone or any internet connected device on Tuesday, April 14 starting at 9:00 a.m. central time and lasting 60 minutes.

A+ Schools Offers Tips on Parental Engagement

    in Moms and Family

As a parent, you are your child’s greatest educational resource. Essentially, you are your child’s first teacher. As a former elementary school educator, I can tell you that NOTHING is more detrimental to your child’s learning than tension between you and your child’s teacher. The home-school connection must be strong with all parties working towards the same goal – the educational success of the child.

A+ Schools is the community advocate and leader for educational equity and excellence in Pittsburgh’s Public Schools. Its core purpose and focus is to remove any barriers to equity in our schools. A+ Schools is dedicated to educating the public, increasing awareness and engaging the community in efforts to advance change.

Join me as I speak with A+ Schools community organizer, Amie Matson, about the home-school connection and how parents and teachers can work together to ensure academic success for their children.

Breast Cancer Survivor Talks About Faith, Resiliency and Parental Involvement

    in Education

Dr. Mike Robinson, host of Parent Talk Live talks with Tamara Wallace Norman, a cancer survivor about how her faith and resiliency supported her desire to be involved in the academic life of her son.

    BIO:

Tamara Wallace Norman, native of Dayton, Ohio, is a wife, mother, and avid roller skater.  Tamara is also a breast cancer survivor.  She was diagnosed in December 2011.  At that time her son, Zion, was 6 years old and in first grade.  He was also in his 2nd year of attending an immersion language academy where we was studying Mandarin.  During Tamara’s cancer journey, she took a break from her 20-year career as a flight attendant in order to focus on treatment and supporting her son’s education.  Her approach to dealing with life has always been to incorporate with her faith two attributes: resiliency and steadfastness. She has seen the effects of this positive approach to life play out in her ability to remain cancer-free for three years and in her role as a mother, helping her son to excel in his studies.  Whether flying, gliding across the hardwood or writing about her passion for roller skating (you can find her at www.lacesandwheels.com), Tamara’s zest for life is most apparent.  She currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, Jaron, and her son, Zion.
