Sleep Paralysis: The Ultimate Nightmare Part I

    in Paranormal

Part 1 of a  4-part series:  The series is to inform the listener of the science, legends, cultural aspects, and paranormal theory regarding this age-old terror of the night.

Tj, your "ghost host with the most" delves into the basics of sleep paralysis in this brief but informative episode.  Although a major complication for many, sleep paralysis is generally on the check list for major sleep disorders, such as Narcolepsy.  In other words, it is not generally considered a sleep disorder in and of itself.  Scientific data is sparce and easy to explain as a particular brain chemical is responsible for paralysing the body to shield one from acting out dreams.  This chemical is the key in scientific explanations.  Many people suffer from this disorder and go through life without a clue as to what it is.  Many are amazed whenever the subject is brought up and the conditions described.  Statistically, 15 percent of the global population (a very rough number), have had at least one occurrence of sleep paralysis.  However, seemingly much more is involved than just being stuck in paralysis.  Some describe visible demons.  Others describe a heaviness on their chests.  Some even believe that they are stuck in between dimensions.  Frighteningly, most have one thing in common:  That is,  that sleep paralysis is the most terrifying experience of their lives.

    in Entertainment

SLEEP PARALYSIS is a phenomenon in which a person, either when falling asleep or awakening, temporarily experiences an inability to move. It is a transitional state between wakefulness and sleep characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness).

Have you ever felt like you were awake but unable to move? You might have even felt afraid but could not call for help? This condition is called sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis may leave you feeling frightened, especially if you also see or hear things that aren't really there. Sleep paralysis may happen only once, or you may have it frequently -- even several times a night.

How to Help Dogs and Cats with Pet Paralysis

    in Pets

Pet paralysis is a difficult, scary thing to contemplate and when it happens to your dog or cat there are few good resources available to offer hope and help. Thankfully, there's Sharon Seltzer, creator of the blog Lessons from a Paralyzed Dog and we are happy to bring her to Tripawd Talk Radio on Sunday October 12 at 6pm Eastern / 3pm Pacific.

Sharon is an animal rights writer and co-founder of Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. When her 10-year old dog Sophie gradually became weaker and then lost all use of her limbs, Sharon was at a loss for what to do. Several specialists, rehab therapists and treatments yielded little to no success to help Sophie walk again; that's when Sharon's pack began a new normal way of life and learned how to make the best of Sophie’s disability.

Sharon will discuss how she coped with Sophie's paralysis and the tips, tricks and successes that this special dog taught her. We will be taking your calls too. Please join us on this informative episode of Tripawd Talk Radio!

Call in with your questions or post them in the Tripawds Discussion Forums, and join us in the live Tripawds Chat room during the show!

    Operation: Next Chapter

    in Military

Operation: Next Chapter is “working with Soldier’s Angeles Project: Valour-IT to provided 100 voice-controlled, adaptive lap-top computers for military personnel who have lost the use of their hands.  Vietnam Veteran and author Cym Lowell will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of his latest novel, Jasper’s War, to purchase these individually adapted computers which cost $500 a piece.  The laptops allow warriors who are healing from amputations, paralysis, eye injuries, burns and brain trauma to stay in touch with their family and their units during their recovery period.”

Cym Lowell "was born in Montana to academics and spent his youth traveling the world. To put it politely, he was an undistinguished student, rewarded with assignment to the U.S. Navy at 18. After two years in Vietnam, college and law school were a challenge. Being a veteran in the political turbulence of the late 1960s and early 1970s taught humility. Raising three children in the Midwest and Texas brought love and responsibility. An international tax practice in the financial crises of the past 40 years provided insight into motivations of actors on the global stage. Friends, clients, adversaries, and colleagues, like victory and defeat, added color and context. The result is a writer with a treasure trove of experience to frame compelling characters enmeshed in heart-thumping challenges." Cym Lowell is the author of The Gift, Riddle of Berlin and Jaspar's War.

Jessica in 1983, at 27years old I had a near death experience. I was a passenger in a car in my home town Carmel, CA. The driver crashed at accelerating speed into a tree. The driver walked away from the accident, but the impact on my side of the car crushed my face beyond recognition. My vertebrae suffered multiple fractures, my discs smashed/bulging and the bones in my feet shattered. I was diagnosed to have lasting nerve damage and possible paralysis below my waist. I looked grotesque. After the surgery to re-attach my jaw and rebuild my face, I had a Near Death Experience. I went through several stages on "the other side" including, three life reviews.  The first review showed me the life I had lived. The second, I saw a different  and better life I could have lived if I had made better choices (but still the accident would have happened). The third, making completely different choices, I saw a life I would have lived and the accident would not have happened.I was fortunate to get my life back. With my NDE awarenesses I had a miracle healing. Within six months I was fully healed. The X-rays showed no sign of  injury to my back and feet  http://www.lifewithjessica.com/
