On November 11, 2010 I released a novel ("The Leading Lady of Rap"), that would go on to become an Amazon Kindle #1 best-seller, twice. It has also connected me with several celebrities and big wigs in the entertainment industry that didn't have knowledge that I have 3 ancestors that were famous actresses, the most famous being Esther Rolle ('Florida Evans' from the 1970s show, "Good Times"). It's been 4 years since the novel has been released, and the controversy behind the unsung hero-ish novel continues. What many people don't know is that my 17-chapter novel, "The Leading Lady of Rap," began as a screenplay in 2005 bearing the same title. Remy Ma is the only female rapper that originally motivated this movement, and in this dedication episode I'll explain my "The Leading Lady of Rap" struggles these past 10 years...The good, the bad...and the UGLY.

Hip hop music was both influenced by DISCO and a backlash against it. According to, the early days of hip hop were characterized by divisions between fans and detractors of disco music. Hip hop had largely emerged as "a direct response to the watered down, Europeanised, disco music that permeated the airwaves" and the earliest hip hop was mainly based on hard funk loops. However, by 1979, disco instrumental loops/tracks had become the basis of much hip hop music. This genre got the name of "disco rap". Ironically, hip hop music was also a proponent in the eventual decline in disco popularity.
