I cannot think of a better way to solve a bunch of serious looming problems all at once than what Buck Adams, founder of Veterans to Farmers has done in the Denver metro area. Veterans coming back from war or otherwise discharging out of the military are among the highest unemployed demographic in the nation. At the same time our food is heavily subsidized, reliant on oil all the while being low in nutrition and our “non-communicable” diseases are going up at an alarming rate. Buck Adams is fighting a the good fight on multiple fronts by providing successful entrepreneurial jobs for veterans and quality, nutritious, locally-produced food in his home city of Denver, CO. How does Buck do all of this in the high plains desert of Colorados front range you ask? Give this interview a listen and be inspired. You can visit his website VeteransToFarmers.org to donate if you wish to help vets get started changing their lives and the communities in which they live. I have learned a lot from Scott over the years that we have been travelling to Expos together, and I finally got together with him to record a podcast.  I have so much to learn about gardening, seeds and the recipe for producing nutritious foods.  Take a listen as we chat with Scott from DownToEarthSeeds.com about all things gardening—the how-to and the why-to.

    We talk about:

    -Intro to Scott from DownToEarthSeeds.com

-What does Scott think as he looks across the industrial food-scape?

-Have we lost a generation of practical food production/preservation knowledge?

-Getting to know what produces what and how—start noticing

-What is the difference between heirloom, hybrid or GMO seeds?

-We may be producing quantity of food in this nation, but the quality is so inferior which leads to obesity, sickness, and inflation of food price

-Heat will kill seeds, for every ten degrees above freezing you lose half your seed life!

-Can you freeze seeds?  Yes, but it depends on how you do it.
