    Listen to this special edition of the Pan-African Journal hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. During the broadcast we will feature our regular PANW reports with dispatches involving developments on the four-year aftermath of the imperialist-engineered war of regime-change in the North African state of Libya; also a Memphis police officer was shot dead yesterday just two weeks after an African American was killed during a traffic stop; a Cincinnati police officer has been indicted for murder after shooting an African American during a routine traffic stop; and a look at the character of police training where they are taught to shoot to kill. In the second hour we continue our focus on Black August, a monthlong tribute to the resistance of African people against slavery, colonialism, neo-colonialism and imperialism. This segment presents a 1968 lecture by Hosea Williams, a leading member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), who speaks on the Poor People's Campaign of that year. The final hour looks at the contributions of Blanche K. Bruce, a Mississippi politician and US Senator who served during the period of Reconstruction in the late 1870s and early 1880s. Bruce was the first African American to serve a full term in the Senate. He died in Washington, D.C. in 1898 at the age of 57.

    It is imperative that WE THE PEOPLE are able to express that the Governed are not to be treated as Chattel simply because some individuals in the Government have acted against those who are being Governed. If the government choose not to recognize the harm that they inflict on the Governed then that becomes tyranny.

    America has gone beyond being just a terrorist state it has become a tyrannical state, not only have the police and the Judicial System been allowed to kill Black Persons with impunity but White, Brown, Red and Yellow.  America has become a Police State and the Police are now above the law and this is a danger to every Citizen of this Country. Now we must organize "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." To secure our rights as Citizens from the Tyranny of the Government protected Police? What about "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." In each case of the Killings by Police and Whites against Black Peoples rights have been violated and the victims are made the criminals.

    What is nation building? What importance does it have on the PAN AFRICANIST? Really do you all understand that to be a nationalist and not be pro-active as to the only nations we come from on the Continent of Africa is counterproductive?  You may have not been born in Africa but your Skin complexion of many shades of EARTH tones declaring your African Nationality without you opening your mouths. This plus the fact that you want Justice for your captivity and slaughter of your ancestors makes you a Pan Africanist.


    "The political philosophy of black nationalism means that the black man should control the politics and the politicians in his own community; no more. The black man in the black community has to be re-educated into the science of politics so he will know what politics is supposed to bring him in return. Don't be throwing out any ballots. A ballot is like a bullet. You don't throw your ballots until you see a target, and if that target is not within your reach, keep your ballot in your pocket. 


    The political philosophy of black nationalism is being taught in the Christian church. It's being taught in the NAACP. It's being taught in CORE meetings. It's being taught in SNCC Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee meetings. It's being taught in Muslim meetings. It's being taught where nothing but atheists and agnostics come together. It's being taught everywhere. Black people are fed up with the dillydallying, footing, compromising approach that we've been using toward getting our freedom.     If a Negro in 1964 has to sit around and wait for some cracker senator to filibuster when it comes to the rights of black people, why, you and I should hang our heads in shame. You talk about a march on Washington in 1963, you haven't seen anything. There's some more going down in '64. 


    And this time they're not going like they went last year. They're not going singing ''We Shall Overcome." They're not going with white friends. They're not going with placards already painted for them. They're not going with round-trip tickets. They're going with one way tickets. And if they don't want that non-nonviolent army going down there, tell them to bring the filibuster to a halt.


    The black nationalists aren't going to wait. Lyndon B. Johnson is the head of the Democratic Party. If he's for civil rights, let him go into the Senate next week and declare himself. Let him go in there right now and declare himself. Let him go in there and denounce the Southern branch of his party. Let him go in there right now and take a moral stand -- right now, not later. Tell him, don't wait until election time. If he waits too long, brothers and sisters, he will be responsible for letting a condition develop in this country which will create a climate that will bring seeds up out of the ground with vegetation on the end of them looking like something these people never dreamed of. In 1964, it's the ballot or the bullet.
