    Kaba Hiawatha Kamene was born with the name, Booker Taliaferro Coleman, Jr., at New York Hospital, on Monday, November 16, 1953.  He is a teacher, consultant, administrator, staff developer and curriculum writer.  Kaba Hiawatha has been an educator in Bronx, N.Y., since October 6, 1979.  Presently, Brother Kaba retired from the NYC Department of Education (July 09) and is a consultant to Academic institutions, educators, parents and community members interested in teaching and learning. 

                Over Kaba Hiawatha’s long career in Education, he has consulted many Boards of Education, Schools, Community, Parent and Student groups.  He has visited many classrooms around the country and implemented successful strategies in the teaching/learning process.  He is firmly dedicated to the belief that culture plays a vitally important role in education and proudly credits many of his academic views to his teacher world-renowned, educator,Professor John Henrik Clarke. In September 2001, he implemented his lifelong goal of developing an African-Centered Science Academy named, “Per Ankh (Temple/House Of Life)”.  Kaba Hiawatha functions as the Academy’s Principal Facilitator and Chief Executive Officer.     A North Carolina native, Linda Coleman was born and raised in Greenville, NC. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina A&T State University and later earned a Master in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.

    Starting her career as a classroom teacher, Linda is a proven leader who has been an effective voice for North Carolina. She was elected, Chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, to serve three terms in the North Carolina House of Representatives, and under the appointment of Governor Bev Perdue to serve as the Director of the Office of State Personnel. She also ran for Lt. Governor in 2012 and was just narrowly defeated by less than 7,000 votes.

    She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Links Inc., Wake County Democratic Women and many other civic and social organizations.

    She is running for Lt. Governor to give North Carolina’s middle class a fighting chance again, standing up for families, teachers and women. If elected, Linda will be the second female Lt. Governor in North Carolina’s history-the first African American woman, and the first African American woman outside of the judiciary elected in a statewide race. She will also be the first independently elected African American Lt. Governor in the nation.

    After the sudden and unexpected death of her husband, Lisa Sheraton and her 14-year-old daughter start their lives over by moving to a new town. Lisa believes leaving their old home and painful memories behind will be good for her only child, Brittany. 

    It doesn't take long for Lisa to find a place she feels is quite suitable for them. Because of the money left to her by her husband's substantial life insurance policy, Lisa knows that, at least financially, she won't have to worry about surviving.

    Although their loss is great, both mother and daughter are glad to be together and starting the next chapter of their lives.
