This installment of The Forbidden Fruit welcomes a really good friend of the show, Jeremiah Camara. We love having Jeremiah on the show. Each time he calls in, that episode becomes an instant classic. This episode will be no different. You know we have to talk about his famous Slave Sermons series, but not only that, we will talk about his documentary "Contradiction-A Question of Faith". If you haven't seen "Contradiction", what are you waiting for? We will also talk about Jeremiah's recent trip to the Mother Land, Africa, and his life changing experiences there. According to an October 8th, 2015 article in the Portland Business Journal, The Oregon Supreme Court “sided with the state and denied Oracle America’s attempt to dismiss its top brass as defendants in the state’s lawsuit.”
In today's segment I am joined by Buyers Meeting Point's Kelly Barner to talk about the consequences of this seminal decision and what it may mean for vendors and end-user clients going forward.

If you are “making good money,” but
feeling broke, blame taxes. Income
Taxes are THE biggest expense item
for nearly all households.
And if you’ve been feeling “more broke”
in the past year, here’s why…
During fiscal year (FY) 2015 (which just
ended on Sept. 30), the IRS took more of
our hard-earned money than ever before!
HOW MUCH DID THE IRS TAKE
FROM US IN FISCAL-YR 2015?
Sit down for this one! The total collected
Translation: $3,25 TRILLION dollars. Or
3 Trillion, 248 Billion, 723 Million dollars.
That’s a whopping 8% jump over last year!
The entire population of the United States
is 320 million. That means the amount
collected from every person in the U.S. –
even counting infants – averaged $10,152.
The average American family – mom and
dad and three kids – a normal family if five --
paid nearly $51,000 in taxes last year!
($3.25-Trillion divided by 320-Million people).
So if you think that taxes are killing you
financially, be assured, THEY ARE!!!
Only one person can reduce your taxes to
the legal minimum – YOU!
The MORE You KNOW, the LESS You OWE

There’s a lot going on in broadband in Oregon. Communities such as Sandy are upgrading their infrastructure significantly, or planning their initial networks. Co-op are energized and several of them are planning to launch broadband initiatives. The rural telephone companies are providing creative solutions that are getting communities connected.
Joseph Franell, General Manager and CEO of Eastern Oregon Telecom, discusses some of the opportunities and the challenges that communities face here in the state. Gigabit Nation is broadcasting live from the Oregon Connections Telecommunications Conference, which draws statewide attendees to share ideas, experiences and knowledge about telecommunications.
Franell and Gigabit Nation host Craig Settles highlight:
some of the challenges with bridging the broadband divide in education;
addressing the urban/rural divide;
what is the "right" model to deploy gigabit networks in rural markets;
how has the USF/ICC reform impacted rural carriers and how are they moving forward;
what are the pluses and minuses of the Google Fiber model.
Sandy, OR’s move to gigabit broadband is one of the many case stories in Settles’ new book, Building the Gigabit City, Vol. 2.
