Oomer grins and adjusts his mic as he runs down all the turmoil in this year's Laker Season.

Chris Paul's Impact on the Clippers, Miami's Quest for a three-peat, the upstart Portland Trail Blazers, and much more on this special NBA update with possible scheduled guess Oomer in Rockland. In Hour 2, Kevin on the Cape and Dave start up "Random Questions" for our transition month of February. PLUS: Special Coverage of Derek Jeter's Retirement announcement w/ Gerry in Piscataway.
Annuities - The Wealth DNA radio show is dedicated to helping you increase your wealth, as well as educating savers & investors. There seems to be a large number of salespeople offering an extensive and confusing array of annuities, claiming their annuities are the best investment available to "guarantee" a comfortable retirement. The companies tout special offers like 10% bonus added to your investment, guaranteed annual returns of 9% or more, returns indexed to the stock market, and absolutely no downside risk. Does this sound too good to be true? Then it probably is. Besides, our regular listeners realize there are only 2 guarantees in life !
We'll have Jason L. Slade a Branch Manager/Financial Advisor with Raymond James back as our special guest. If you listened to the show when we talked to him about MLP's ('Master Limited Partnerships) you'll recall that he helps investors understand the options available, and to make sure they are suitable for them. Since he hosts weekly meetings with groups of investors over coffee, I'm confident he will help us separate the annuity facts from the fiction. We'll be asking him who should consider investing in annuities, the various types, and the options available. Which types have the lowest fees? Will your spouse continue to collect the income if s/he lives longer? What are realistic income percentages today? As interest rates rise, will annuities become more or less attractive? What about your heirs?
Tonight we chat, hopefully with Oomer in Rockland, about the ongoing NBA Playoffs. We'll cover the first round matchups so far, the plummeting LA Clippers against Memphis, the smoldering train wreck that is the Lakers, the Knicks impending elimination of the Celtics, the Heat's tune up against Milwaukee and then a look at the potential second round matchups: San Antonio vs either Golden State or Denver, then Oklahoma City vs either Memphis or the Clippers. Much to cover PLUS some quick thoughts on the Stanley Cup playoffs so far, the Kings devastating loss at St. Louis in Overtime, and in Hour 2, Kevin on the Cape with "Random Questions."
