Long before Omar Tyree was a New York Times Best Selling author, he was a college student at the University of Pittsburgh criticized by his peers for an interest in writing. His teammates at the division one football powerhouse told him "football players don't write." Tyree eventually transferred and has since gone on to become one of a few writers to have best sellers in multiple categories including fiction, business, children, and after selling 2 million books and having an estimated 8 million readers he enters into the world of Mystery/Thriller. A child of the 70's Tyree grew up in the Delaware and Philadelphia region with a strong stepfather who was a role model and a disciplinary that gave him the freedom to explore and put him in line anytime he strayed. Tyree became a fan of classic films, including kung-fu movies and was known amongst his middle and high school peers for his incredible memorization skills and story-telling abilities. After transferring from the University of Pittsburgh to Howard University Tyree began his writing career selling books out of the back of his car, from his college apartment which had more books than furniture, and simultaneously freelanced with local newspapers to meet ends meet. After developing a cult like following in the mid-atlantic Tyree continued to write a book every year and soon developed a national following by word of mouth leading to publishing powerhouse Simon & Schuster signing the young talent to a multiple book deal worth millions of dollars.

How We Do It Wednesday EXCLUSIVE! Host: Mz MindFull Jordan, interviews NEW YORK TIMES-Best Selling Author: OMAR TYREE
Omar Tyree's BIO: After transferring to Howard University in Washington, DC, where he graduated from the School of Communications with a degree in Print Journalism, Tyree worked as a reporter and writer to make ends meet, before deciding to borrow money from family and friends to start his own publishing company, MARS Productions. Using the bare living room of his one-bedroom apartment in Hyattsville, Maryland as a storage facility, Tyree sold more than twenty-five thousand copies of his books on Greyhound bus trips, before buying a Ford Probe hatchback, where he could distribute ten boxes of books from his car to sell at book events and book stores.
After developing a cult following in the Mid-Atlantic region from Virginia Beach to New York City, Tyree continued to write a book a year and develop a mostly word-of-mouth marketing campaign that eventually led to the doors of publishing powerhouse Simon & Schuster. Tyree then became—at age twenty-six—one of the youngest authors of the explosive 1990s to sign four consecutive book deals worth millions of dollars.
Tyree is currently optioning and producing several of his early titles as stage plays, television shows and feature films. But he is most excited by this long-awaited opportunity to develop The Traveler series with Koehler Books from the ground up with No Turning Back in ebook form this January 2013, before releasing the first traditional title, Welcome to Dubai next fall.

Keisha Tyree is a thirty-three year old author and mother. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, she currently resides in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area. Having been a lover of words and reading from a very young age, Ms. Tyree’s progression into writing seemed to happen almost naturally. Starting out, she mostly penned short stories and poetry. After sharing her work with a few family members and friends, Keisha was overwhelmingly encouraged to turn her short stories into full length novels. She pondered on the ideal for a while, but it wasn’t until she began working as a personal assistant to New York Times bestselling authors, Ashley and JaQuavis, that Ms. Tyree truly decided to pursue her dreams of becoming an author. Gestating her work for months, Ms. Tyree banged away at the keyboard every day until the last word was written and her debut novel, Heavy, was finally born.
?Keisha Tyree’s writing style is byproduct of the streets in which she was raised; gritty, urban, honest and uncut. Her work seeks to shed light on the untold stories from our nation’s countless, and often times forgotten about ghettos. Signed to the Official Writer’s League (O.W.L), the publishing company created by author’s Ashley & JaQuavis Coleman, Keisha’s debut novel Heavy, is currently causing a stir in world of urban fiction.
?Keisha is currently hard at work on the follow up to Heavy, which is due out this fall/winter.
