The 2012 Olympic Marathon qualifying race is in Houston in January 2012. Wade Morehead, executive director of the race was a guest on the show. Wade talks about the 3 loop course, the size of the field, men and women running together and the challenges of hosting 300 elite athletes for a historic race, plus much more.
The men's and women's marathon at the Olympics generated a great deal of commentary. We opened up a phone line and let the audience call in to express their views on the races. You'll hear a wide range of comments and observations. We're also joined by the runDisney team who comes on to talk about the 2013 Walt Disney World Marathon. This will be the 20th anniversary race and they have some big plans for a spectacular event.
Leah Thorvilson ran in the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston, TX on January 14, 2012 and she's on The Marathon Show to talk about her amazing experience running against America's finest. You'll hear Leah talk about her preparation, her race strategy, what went on in the race and some fun stories.
Trial- a person, thing, or situation that tests a person's endurance or forbearance.
While the world says "ignorance is bliss," this is not often the case when we find ourselves in a situation that tests our endurance as a believer in Jesus. The Bible on the other hand states something very different. The Bible says "My people perish due to a lack of knowledge." When we find ourselves in a situation that we cannot understand, we tend to go astray, especially when we're young in Christ, but if we simply pick up the prescribed formula from scripture we can see ourselves through any situation.
During today's show, we will talk with Chris 'Gman' Giordanelli. On Saturday, December 13, 2014, this 50-year-old cyclist/multi sport athlete/runner broke the 50+ age group South Carolina state marathon record in a very fast 2:47 (the previous record, 2:50). We are going to speak with Chris and hear about his journey towards the record. What inspired Chris to go after this record? What were some of the ups and downs he experienced during his "marathon training camp?" After breaking this record, what's next on his radar?
Episode 45: When Trials & Tragedies come before the Holidays and carries into the New Year. Guest Andrew Rappaport of Striving for Eternity.
On this episode of G220 Radio we are going to talk about trials and tragedies that happen before, during or right after the holidays and how we as Christians deal with them. We are going to talk about these issues that we may face or deal with in our lives and how God gives us comfort in times of trials and tragedies. Andrew Rappaport of Striving for Eternity Ministries will be my guest as we discuss some of the things that people have gone through recently, a brother in Christ losing his home, a spouse who walks out on you, or a spouse who dies, police officers, firefighters and military men and women who die in the line of duty.
The Sunday right before Christmas a brother in Christ woke up to his house on fire, thankfully by God's grace everyone made it out of the house alive, but the house was burnt to the ground, losing everything inside. While material things can always be replace, pictures and sentimental items cannot.
What if your spouse cheats on you or walks out of the marriage. Maybe the loss of a loved one, a spouse, a child, a parent, a relative, or a friend.
First responders and military men and women put their lives on the line everyday. Some service men and women die in the line of duty, leaving behind families.
All these situations happen to some and the holidays come and go and then we carry the hurt, pain and sorrow into the New Year. How can we as Christians be there for someone going through a trial or tragedy? What if we are the one going through it?

We had a sister willing to talk to us live from France, about the evil being perpetrated against the muslims living there. Sadly, our sister, in fear of her well-being cancelled our up close and personal interview with her. so, while we are living comfortably here in the U.S. coplaining about the weather and someone messing up our order at Mcdonalds, while Muslims around the world are struggling and being murdered everyday. Enjoy your Frappe while you listen to the Hard Truth.
With some outstanding perfromances at the recent 100km world championships and an increasing popularity for 100km and ultra events the question arises:
Is the 100km the new marathon?
In this episode of the Partnerunning Show we explore the case for and against.
We don't see this as a debate about better or worse, there is a place for all distances as one person's 5k is another person's 200 mile. Rather it is an insight into the "running boom" as people seek to go further not just (or even) faster.
