This week on The Shift we're talking with teen novelist Nancy Rue. The issue she addresses in her latest novel, So Not Okay, is bullying in schools. Her novel is written for teenagers to see through the viewpoint of a child being bullied. We have all been there when we were growing up, but what we assumed at one point in our lives to be harmless actually torments young kids so much that they end their lives. Many people don't realize the severity of the situation and should become more aware of how their children behave towards others.
We'll discuss the issue of human kindness, how we can stop bullying and how to deal with bullying. Help us push this movement forward and stop this once and for all. Call in and ask your questions. We're also giving away a couple copies of the book to share with your teen. Follow us on Twitter @ShiftWithSkip or on Facebook here. #bullying #sonotokay

Social media has been buzzing this week over a newly released video showing ex-NFL player Ray Rice violently striking his then fiance' in an elevator. So, tonight we decided to re-play a show we did on domestic violence. It was one of the most popular shows Center Stage has done, and provided a lot of good information for anyone who currently finds themselves in this situation.
Special episode for kids and adults alike!
Since the rise of the Internet, cyberbullying has become rampant in many online circles. Two things make it easy for bullies to harass others online: Anonymity and distance. It is not just a "kids problem" anymore...many adults are victims of cyberbullying, and like kids many adults don't know what to do. Adults tend to think that they should be "old enough" to take care of it, but when bullying turns into constant harassment or threats of physical violence, both age groups need to have the tools to deal with and stop the bullying.
We invite our listeners to call in and tell us about their own experiences....either as a victim or a previous bully. Let us know your thoughts on this matter.
Kids all over the United States are actually killing themselves from the anguish of bullying....or worse yet, committing acts of violence themselves in retribution. Let's discuss ways to stop the downward spiral that bullying causes.
But make sure that the anger is yours. It's so easy to pick up anger from other people and environments. Everyone around this generates feelings. By learning how to protect our body's energy fields, which is actually very easy, we can learn how to release anger in a healthy way or to use it constructively.
"Fat shaming" goes on everyday. The glaring faces of dissapproval in a persons size. Those small groups giggle, point and whisper when at pluse size person is in public. Profound predjudces that come with being overweight. We all have heard seen, even participated in this phenomenon either toward others or self.
Which effects you more? When someone you know talks negatively about your size? / When complete strangers bashes your full figure? Call in tonight we want to hear from you!
