    Advocate vs. Advocate

    in Pets

In the world of Pit Bull Advocacy, we all want the same thing. The fair and equal treatments of the dogs we know and love as Pit Bull. One thing has been clear in my 12 years as an owner, lover, and advocate, our methods and views are not always the same, and we can, and we do, clash. In fighting, boasting, egos, and more. What can we do as advocates to look past those differences, avoid such clashes and do away with the egos involved, including our own?

Join Dogfather and Joe on our 1st show of 2015 as we discuss this and more. We welcome your calls with comments and questions. Phone lines open at the top of the show. 347-838-8615

    Reducing Nurse Fatigue

    in Health

According to the CDC, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, insufficient sleep is a public health epidemic. For the average adult, the required amount of sleep is 8 hours. A recent study revealed that 1/3 of adults tend to sleep less than 6 hours. In 2009, nearly 17.5% of adults between the ages 18 – 45 admitted to nodding off while driving to and from work. Research also suggests that lack of sleep can result in a lower quality of life for a person. In addition, these sleep deprived individuals tend to experience illness more frequently than people who get the required amount of sleep. People who continuously lack proper sleep are also more likely to experience an inability to concentrate on tasks throughout the day. These people may experience a more difficult time with their memory or the interactions that they experience, which result in more confusion than someone getting the required amount of rest. Today we will be discussing: Reducing Nurse Fatigue with Nurse Reezena H. Malaska, RN, MSN, and CCRN.

    in Motivation

    Founder Monique Evans Biography

Monique Evans is the Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The L.E.I.L.A. Empowerment Project Inc. based in Prince Georges County, MD.

Monique is a survivor of domestic and sexual abuse.  Monique endured sexual abuse as a child, and physical abuse at the hands of her abuser for years.  Initially it was shame, embarrassment and fear that kept Monique in her situation with her abuser and from speaking out about her childhood sexual abuse.  Monique suffered many visible and invisible scars as a result of her abuse.  And although she knew the visible ones would heal it was the invisible ones that hurt her the most.  Monique finally got up the courage to leave her abuser, but not before he left her with a permanent reminder of their relationship.  Monique’s abuser took a cane and hit her in the mouth and knocked out two of her front teeth, ultimately resulting in her smile being changed.
