    Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Spiritual Balance

    Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Founder and CEO of Miclknight. I am an Educator, Speaker, Author, Full-Circle Health Coach and passionate about healthy and balanced living.


    Last week: Emotional Balance, today 2/4 Spiritual Balance; next week 2/11 Physical Balance; 2/18 Mental Balance.


    My favorite word is: Moderation in what ever we do. What I mean with Spritual Balance is to have something to look up to, for example Nature, Sounds, Yoga, God, Buddah, something where you can pull strength from.


    Why is this so important? As a baby we had our parent(s) nurture us. As children, we made friends and enjoyed spending time with them, sharing, playing. As teens it started getting a bit more competitive, and as adults, we get lost at times, because the support we had has shifted in us, as we want to be self-sufficient, knowing the answers, being respected,


    That's why we need a supreme being or something that grounds us, so we are balanced. Remember the muscle testing we did last week? Use it!


    From my experience, my spritual life means being, doing, giving the best I can each and every day and get the strength and wisdom from above to know what it is. Ask yourself, what is it for you? Do you get guidance from somewhere you feel you want to tune in, listen, then head the thought, feeling, guidance you get? Do you feel a shift in your body, your mind, your soul? That's what a Spiritual Balance is for me. Then I test it and when it's solid, I follow the action to that thought.

    New Year's Resolutions


    Webster's Dictionary: "The state of being resolute; a fixed purpose of determination; the state of acting with fixed purpose; firmness; the act of resolving or separating into component parts; the answer or solution to a problem..."


    Common New Year's Resolutions:


    Are you On/Off Target?


    Feelings about decisions?


    Stress Relieve: deep breathing....resting more and deeply


    Weight Control: Food (eating less, healthier, more plant based foods; reduce or avoid sugars, read labels, no more than 10 - 11% of your caloric intake in Protein (plant or animal)


    Do not loose weight, release it! Think, what happens when you loose something? Mind goes into search to find the item again!


    Exercise, firm, tone, positive action words! Affirmations. Loving your body. Loving your looks. Knowing that beauty shines from within, then radiates to the outside!


    Life Style Change: do it for 21 - 28 days, as this is the time it takes to form a new habit.

    Leave the Past behind


    Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, today is a Gift from God, that's why it's called the Present!

    What does it have to do with Get Healthy Now?


    Why this sound? How does it make you feel?


    Something or someone comes to an abrupt stop.


    Then what?


    story:


    X-Rays, shoulder dislocated, stiff due to 15 hrs delay


    ER Dr tried 3 x, put me out, shoulder in.


    Why am I telling this story?  Ways to get redirected after a pang. My reflections: glad it was not worse, glad I could get up, happy shoulder was put back in place, life goes on. After every fall or pang, get up and do, be and give your best again. No need to get depressed, no need to feel sorry for yourself, look at your life being fully balanced and bounce back. I chose my balance over imbalance just because I was in pain.


    In every situation we get to chose the outcome as long as we live.


    Your choice?


    Start laughing as quickly as possible as it releases the good, healing endorphins. It also helps you balance quicker and the pain subsides faster.


    OK, what comes after Pang? Get up!


    Don’t let a fall hinder you from following your dream. Sometimes we need to fall forward to get stronger and better at what we are doing,

    Becca is a cancer survivor and one of Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation’s first recipients. Her positive attitude in the face of adversity has been an inspiration and example to children currently in treatment.


    "Visiting kids in treatment at Cottage Hospital is one of the best experiences I have ever had," she says, describing her work with Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, "their smiles are priceless."


    In 2005, she began working part-time assisting with program administration and being a spokesperson for the organization. In 2009, she became a full-time team member.


    She is now Director of Family Support & Volunteer Services. In addition to her role at TBCF, Becca works with the American Cancer Society, Hugs for Cubs, and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

    2007: F-I-L amputation


    2009: F-I-L ready to die in Convalescent Home


    Nov. 11, 2009: Matthew picked up his Father and took him home to us to die. The two had a conversation and Jr. agreed to give us 6 months.


    2010: started swimming daily

    F-I-L's Overall Health improved.


    I took care of him until 2012 (accident)


    Matthew took care of him from that date on 24/7 until


    9/17/2015: Good day, swimming, shower, dinner...

    9/21 @ 8:10 AM Dr.'s visit


    9/21 @ 8:20 AM last breath. Went in peace and without pain.


    What did we learn during the 6 years we had with Jr.?


    Patience, love, tolerance, E.S.P.M. Health, Blessings, Stories, No Regrets


    Conclusion: Living a balanced life, to keep our health!

    Emotional Balance


    Why is Emotional Balance in our life so important?


    I am not a Psychiatrist or a Psychologist, though have studied Psychology to become a nurse and then a teacher. 


    Why do these two professionals say we need Emotional Balance?


    to understand people better, learn easier


    to know how to ask questions that open up their minds and emotions i/o to help them


    How do we know that we are Emotionally balanced?


    When we are, how do we feel? Stressed? Even keeled? Easy going? Happy?


    When we are not? Tense? Irritable? Angry? Frustrated?


    What are the side affects of either?


    How can we avoid the negative side affects?


    How can we make sure we are balanced? Titer Toter, muscle testing


    Meditation, Music, reading, listening to positive talk, walk, exercise, rest, healthy nutrition, ample hydration
