The BTPowerhouse staff previews the 2015-16 season for the Northwestern Wildcats including the position groups, incoming recruits, scheduling, and prospects for the conference. To help facilitate discussion, Jason Dorow of Inside NU joins the podcast.
#195: Kate Drohan, Head Coach, Northwestern University, visits TCRS. The Wildcats start the season with the Kajikawa Classic on Feb. 12 where they will face the University of California Riverside, University of Virginia, University of Tennessee, Bradley University and the University of Oregon. Following Tempe, NU will head to the BG1/ACC Challenge to face North Carolina and Boston College. Following the Challenge the Wildcats will head to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic where Oregon State, New Mexico State, University of Georgia, Fresno State and UCLA will be waiting. The first home game in Evanston will be April 1st against the Golden Gophers of Minnesota. NU concluded the 2015 season with a 28-23 overall record after qualifying for its 10th NCAA Tournament field in the last 14 years. The Wildcats faced the nation's sixth-toughest nonconference schedule in 2015 and started the year 3-9 overall before bouncing back to go 17-2 in their next 19 games. Laura Cantu had a succesful career as player, in the IWFL. Now she is taking her playing experience to the field and front office. Cantu is the Vice President of football operaions and the Head Coach of the Woodland Wildcats. The Wildcats will begin play in the IWFL starting in the 2016 season.
The Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL), a 501(c)(6) non-profit Texas Corporation, is a full tackle women’s football league focused on creating a positive, safe and fun environment for the women who play the game and fans that come out to watch them. The IWFL was founded in 2000 by a group of women dedicated to making the sport a household name. The IWFL currently has over 1600 women playing the sport for 36 teams across North America with consistent expansion into new markets.

The Wisconsin softball team will square off with nine teams that advanced to the 2015 NCAA Tournament during the 2016 campaign including California, BYU, Louisville, NC State, Kansas, Arizona State, Minnesota, Northwestern and Nebraska. The Badgers finished last year with a 21-31 overall record and a 5-17 Big Ten record last year. They open the regular season against California at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona on Feb. 12-14. Next, the Badgers head to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Feb. 19-21. Big Ten play kicks off for the Badgers in East Lansing, Michigan, against Michigan State on March 24-26. UW hosts four Big Ten opponents at Goodman Diamond, starting with a series against Ohio State on April 1-3. The Badgers head to Minnesota for a doubleheader against the Gophers on April 12, followed by a trip to Iowa April 15-17. A series at home against Illinois on April 22-24, a doubleheader against Green Bay on April 26, and a final series facing Northwestern at Goodman Diamond will close out UW's home slate.
