Suspense, crime fiction author Earl Javorsky (Dan Howard) LIVE on Authors

    in Books

“Earl Javorsky's bold and unusual DOWN SOLO blends the mysterious and the supernatural boldly and successfully. The novel is strong and haunting, a wonderful debut.”  – T. Jefferson Parker, New York Times bestselling author of FULL MEASURE and THE FAMOUS AND THE DEAD.

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes suspense and crime fiction writer Earl Javorsky (also known as Dan Howard).  I have to agree with Jeff Parker and say that Dan's books are powerfully intense and immeasurably enjoyable. Here is a little more about "Earl" (and he promises to explain the pen name). " I was born in Berlin and emigrated to the US when I was two. My father had been an aerial photographer under Rommel in North Africa and worked as a cinematographer in NYC. My mother remarried when I was five and we were off to Hollywood, where my step-father had a contract with Paramount. Oddly, he had been a lieutenant in the US Navy off the coast of Italy.   I was a weird kid and made the appropriate adjustments.  After a long stint trying to make it as a musician in LA and clawing my way up to mid-level management in the chemical entertainment industry (just about killed me), I went back to my first love: writing. I had the good fortune to run into Lou Aronica, my editor at The Story Plant. I work as a proofreader/edito"r (www.theproofreader.org).

Ep 127: Lisa Culhane on Unfriending One's Guilt

    in Books

Join Angela Lauria of The Author Incubator as she interviews Lisa Culhane, author of Discover the New G Spot (or How to Unfriend Your Guilt).

Lisa had been blogging about gratitude when the idea for Discover the New G Spot hit her. The topic seemed a good place to begin for her and as a professed bibliophile, writing this book was a milestone though it was less of a vision and more of an idea of how it would be for her to become an author, writing instead of just reading books.

Lisa describes Discover the New G Spot as saucy. It's really based on stories from her family's travels and focuses on guilt and gratitude, not the more racy stuff that are usually associated with the term G spot.

Historical mystery writer Kay Kendall is LIVE on Authors on the Air

    in Books

Kay Kendall is a long-time fan of historical novels and now writes atmospheric mysteries that capture the spirit and turbulence of the sixties. A reformed PR executive who won international awards for her projects, Kay lives in Texas with her Canadian husband, three house rabbits, and spaniel Wills. Terribly allergic to her bunnies, she loves them anyway! Her book titles show she's a Bob Dylan buff too. RAINY DAY WOMEN published on July 7--the second in her Austin Starr Mystery series.  She says, "In my mystery series featuring Austin Starr, amateur sleuth, I explore what life was like for a typical young woman--not a headline maker, not a Hanoi Jane or Angela Davis, but a moderate who nonetheless got swept up by history's tides during the turbulent sixties. All that turmoil lends itself to drama, intrigue, and murder."  For more visit http://kaykendallauthor.com.
