All Saints Day Show-United States Old Catholic Church

    in Christianity

November 1st is the solemnity of All Saints or All Saints Day. It is the reason for the existence of Halloween, a word comprised of an older English phrase, "All Hallows Eve"--The Night before All Saints. "Hallow" means "Holy." The doctrine of the Communion of Saints is an ancient one with its roots firmly planted in Jewish tradition and teaching. Jesus and the Apostles believed in the concept and it is repeated throughout the bible: we are one with believers who have died and gone to heaven. The "Communion of Saints" is one of the required beliefs for Christianity, as stated in the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. Belief in it is sacrosanct.

Yet, many people attack the doctrine as a form of communication with the dead forbidden by scripture. Others have no idea what a saint is or how one becomes a saint. What's the purpose of a saint? Why do they matter to us? What does it mean to be "in communion" with them?

Join Reverend Mother Kristina Rake, M.A., M.Div., for this enlightening discussion about the saints. From the biblical and Jewish roots of sainthood to the process of cannonization, Mother Rake walks us through the meaning and purpose of devotion to these Heroes in Faith who did what we are trying to do and received the reward we long for: heaven and an eternity with God.

Rev. Mother Kristina Rake is a priest in the United States Old Catholic Church and serves as Director of Public Relations for the church. She has a Masters in Theology and Scripture from Andover Newton Theological School and a Master of Divinity from St. Mary's Old Catholic Seminary. Mother Rake has taught scripture, theology, and apologetics to Catholic adults for over 16 years and is the author of God and the Paranormal: Psychis, Mediums, and the Afterlife in the Bible.

Guest No Show: Did the Ante-Nicene Fathers teach the LDS Man Becomes God view?

    in Religion

Saturday 10/11/14 12pm ET/11am CTRL/10am MTN/9am Pac Call in and listen, share comments and ask questions at 1-347-934-0379

We were supposed to have former LDS and Jehovah's Witness Stephanie Sunderland and had to re-schedule her. But her absence allowed us to cover an issue that i recently encountered online with an LDS Elder and once proposed by a former Jehovah's Witness Richard Rawe. Namely, that the Ante-Nicene Fathers aka the Apostolic Fathers advocated the Mormon Doctrine of man progressively becoming God or as they say "As Man is God once was and as God is Man shall become." In my online note on facebook (you can read it here:https://www.facebook.com/notes/agustin-astacio/proof-6-screens-of-the-wt-unitarian-richard-rawe-scholastic-dishonesty-on-christ/10150184934495678) I addressed this issue and spoke on the uniqueness of Christ as well on this program. We had 2 callers call in one was Wendy Tucker from the Hen's Pen which is now a program featured in our Healing Shows on every Sunday between 4pm ET to 6pm. Check them out every Sunday with a crew of former Jehovah's Witnesses. Check out our upcoming programs and archived ones at www.blogtalkradio.com/healingxoutreach

St. Anthony of the Desert, Abbott, Patriarch of Monks Dominican Rite and Chant

    in Christianity

St. Anthony of the Desert was the favorite Saint of my favorite Saint, St.Athanasius, Patriarch of Alexandria, Egypt. These two Saints in tandum preserved the Catholic faith againsts the twin heresies of Arianism and Caesaropapism in the Forth Century when the Catholic Church transitioned from a persecuted Church of Martyrs from Nero to Diocletian to Tolerance and official religion of the Roman Empire under the auspices of the first Catholic Roman Emperor, Constantine the Great. We owe the bedrock of Christendom-Monasticism and The Nicene Creed to these two Saints who fortified one another as Church Militant against Apostate Emperors and Arian Bishops to affirm the Catholic Apostolic Faith.

I wanted to do a Reformation broadcast near reformation day which is held on October 31st every year. I came to know the man from reading his book debunking open theism entitled, "No Place For Sovereignty." I contacted him and we became friends and on a few trips and conferences we both spoke at we came to know each other. I was so sorry to hear had passed away 2 years ago and so in his honor I want to give this re-telecast of his appearence on our show close to the time I was going to have him. Bob was a small australian man with a wonderful huge laugh, he was mentored by one of the greatest apologists of our time, Francis Schaeffer. Ill share some thoughts about the man before the program airs and then let everyone enjoy his knowledge on the Nicene Council and what ocurred there.

STT Radio LIVE™ explores Easter: Are You a Believer?

    in Christianity

    This Sunday's Topic

To Christians in America and the western hemisphere, Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ who miraculously returned to life on the Sunday following the Friday on which He was executed by crucifixion. Easter therefore represents Jesus Christ's victory over death and His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him.  It is the central tenet of Christian faith and theology and part of the Nicene Creed.

    But what do YOU think?

The feast day of Easter was originally a celebration to honor the pagan Saxon goddess Eastre, but once the Saxon's were converted to Christians, they merged Christ's celebration of resurrection with Easter. However, many deny Christ as ever existing or find Easter to be more of a hoax. What are your thoughts on this? Call us directly at 646-200-0246.

    About STT Radio aka "WSTT"

With thousands of listeners, we aim to discuss just about any and everything under the sun. Our hosts are full of laughter and comedy but we also hit the tough controversial topics. Most importantly, you can always call 646-200-0246 and state your thoughts and opinions.
