Finally, we can talk about hockey!
Greg Wyshynski, of Yahoo! Sports' extremely popular Puck Daddy blog, joins us to discuss the end of the NHL lockout, which occurred informally over the weekend. The NHL and its players are expected to ratify and approve a new collective bargaining agreement this week, with the regular season likely set to start by late January.
What's the new CBA mean for the league and its players? How much damage was done by the extended lockout? And, of course, what are the Red Wings' chances now that the 2013 season is about to begin?
We break down all that and more in this special NHL edition of The Detroit Sports Show ...

It may be awhile before we have any new NHL hockey to discuss, with the league and the Player's Association evidently headed for a lockout. However, sometimes even more entertaining, we still have the internet which provides an outlet for the intellectually destitute to share their thoughts. Focusing mostly on those pertaining to the Chicago Blackhawks, we'll spare no soul who wastes our time and yours in publishing their useless mental pollution.
We'll also discuss the latest in the CBA negotiations, what's new happening in Blackhawks Land, Block's first golfing experience in 14 years and a few other topics having nothing at all to with the Blackhawks or perhaps even of interest to any more than 3 percent of our audience. Nevertheless, we hope you'll continue to listen and enjoy.
The show will air LIVE on BlogTalkRadio.com/TheThirdManIn on Monday, August 27th at 8pm central.

Veteran sports reporter Ryan Clark joins Matt Gajtka for this week's Sports Omnivore. With the NHL lockout finally over, Matt and Ryan explore how the hockey media went about covering it. Social media, labor law and the fans' appetite for work stoppage minutiae all present challenges, so how did the NHL's watchers perform during a grueling four months of negotiations, rumors and innuendo? Also of interest this week: are baseball writers self-serving in revealing their Hall of Fame voting struggles? Matt and Ryan answer these questions from the world of sports media and more on today's show.
Join Bryan Yates from FanvsFan.com and Peter Fish from Octopusthowrer.com as they cover the news, preview games and more about the Detroit Red Wings.
Today we recap the Olympics with the Red Wings, the games between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators. Also we take a look ahead of what's coming up including the trade deadline.
