The NFL appears to have a huge problem with players committing acts of domestic abuse. In recent weeks three NFL players found themselves at the center of controversy for abusing women in their lives. The most notable is Ray Rice, who was seen on video knocking his wife unconscious on an elevator. On the heels of this story is an account of Jonathan Dwyer of the Arizona Cardinals accused of head butting his wife and breaking her nose after she refused his sexual advances. Then there is Greg Hardy, “The Kraken”, of the Carolina Panthers. In July, Greg Hardy was found guilty of assaulting his former girlfriend and threatening to kill her.
These were the most notable abusive acts by NFL players against women recently. There is another NFL player that has made the news for an abusive act. However, in this case it wasn’t against a woman.
Adrian Peterson, of the Minnesota Vikings, is accused of going too far in disciplining his four year old son. It is said that Peterson used a “switch” in disciplining his son and left bruises on the child.
ESPN writer Kate Fagan weighed in during an interview and called on the NFL to invest millions of dollars to address the issue of domestic violence and abuse. She even conveyed that we need to reprogram how we raise men.
What are your thoughts on domestic violence? Do you think it’s gotten worse over the years? What can be done to resolve this social ill? Does the Holy Bible offer a solution?

In 2013, Nate Askew made the switch from receiver to linebacker for his final season at Texas A&M. During his freshman through junior seasons, Asker was used sparingly catching nine passes over that period. His senior season at linebacker Askew played in all 12 games at linebacker, starting at Arkansas and against Missouri. 33 stops on the year, with 22 solo tackles. He also ranked second on the team with two interceptions. He return an interception 30 yards for a touchdown and joined a small group of players who have scored both offensive and defensive touchdowns in their careers with the Aggies. Had a career-high seven stops against Missouri, with four solo tackles and an assisted sack. The biggest boost to his NFL Draft stock was running a 4.45 at his Pro Day which beats any time recorded at the position from the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine.

NFL Draft Prospect
Liberty University safety Jacob Hagen led his team with over 100 tackles (108). With terrific size (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) he is the perfect prospect for the safety position.
Besides his ability to stuff the run he also had eight interceptions and 5.5 tackles for loss. Now he is focused on getting to the NFL. Walt Aikens left Liberty last season and was drafted in the third round by the Miami Dolphins.

Redshirt senior cornerback Ishmael Banks is preparing to make his way to the NFL after wrapping up his college career. Playing against Kevin White alone in practice should help be a good indicator have his skill set for the game.
Banks is a solid prospect with good hips and is not afraid to lower his shoulder and be a factor in the run game. A slight hamstring pull limited him during his Pro Day which is always a negative for the player, but does not mean he won't be ready when the NFL comes calling.
