What's Hot: Pittsburgh Steelers 2015 Draft, AFC North Grades and more

    in Football

"What's Hot" will get you up to date with the most recent NFL news, which currently is the aftermath of the NFL Draft. We'll discuss who will have the better career between Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston along with the reason why the Cowboys didn't draft a running back to replace DeMarco Murray.

We'll talk plenty about the Steelers draft, what you need to know about all eight draft picks and which rookie we think will make the biggest impact in 2015. We'll also see how the rest of the AFC North did in the draft along with trying to figure out what happened in the second round between the Steelers, Ravens, and Baltimore rookie tight end Maxx Williams.

As we all know, the Steelers have a rich history that very few franchises in professional sports can match. Talking about our team's great moments from the past and sharing our memories of those moments will be a staple of "What's Hot". Tomorrow night, we'll look back at our favorite moments from the 1975 Super Bowl X champions, the 1995 AFC Champions (as is the unwritten rule of BTSC, we will refrain from saying the name of one player from that team) and the 2005 Super Bowl XL championships team.

Be sure to tune in LIVE Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

What's Hot: Big Ben's ranking, Le'Veon's knee and the '95 Steelers

    in Football

With no new news surrounding Tom Brady and Deflategate, we're going to spend more time discussing Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was ranked as the No.3 best quarterback in the NFL according to NFL.com'sElliott Harrison. We'll break down Big Ben's ranking along with sharing with you our top-10 quarterback list.

We'll also delve into the potential PAT changes to be voted on this week by the NFL owners. What are the new options for the PAT? And what does this mean for the Steelers? We'll address these questions while offering our thoughts on what should happen to the PAT.

In an interview with ESPN last week, Le'Veon Bell touched on several topics that included marijuana and the status of his right knee. We'll recap the interview and discuss whether or not Steelers fans should be worried about No.26's knee heading into next season.

It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since the 1995 Steelers captured the franchise's first AFC title since the  '79 Steelers. We'll go back to the '90s and relive the greatest moments from that magical season that ended with a spirited battle against the Cowboys in Super Bowl XXX.

We want to hear the voice of Steelers Nation, so feel free to call the show at (347) 850-8581 to join us in our conversation of the Black and Gold. If you can't listen live, search "The Standard is The Standard" on iTunes to listen to the podcast anytime. The podcast will also be featured Wednesday here on BTSC.

AFC East Talk with Ross Tucker! - Next Fan Up - 5/23/15

    in Football

PodVader and the SuperFans preview the AFC East and are joined by special guest, Ross Tucker!  He host the Ross Tucker Football podcast and you can tweet him @rosstuckernfl.

Ross Tucker reunites with Pod Vader and starts talking about the Bills.  Rex Ryan can be the guy to bring championship gold to Buffalo.  They have a great argument for having the best DLine which for Ross is the second most important position after QB.  But the Bills don't have a QB - or do they. Andrew asks about Ross' position on position battles in reference to Geno Smith being named the starting QB for the Jets. Who's next in the East?  How about the Dolphins?

Dave breaks down the QB position for the Dolphins and their strengths and weaknesses.  Dave is mostly concerned with the LBs, but Andrew mentions the Dolphins' Oline will have trouble holding up against the Dline's in the AFC East.

Moving on to the Jets, Andrew has to defend the decision to name Geno Smith the starter already.  Geno does have some weapons surrounding him with a deep RB core and some nice WRs. A QBs best friend is a great defense and the Jets have a pretty good one.

Assuming the Patriots are without Tom Brady for at least a couple games, Jimmy Garopplo is the next man up.  Pats Oline is concerning.  Can Julian Edleman be good without Brady?  Patriots secondary looks just awful. Are they the fourth best roster in the division?

Season predictions for the teams has Pod concerned about a very competitive year ahead.

Talking about the NFC South - Next Fan Up - 5/16/15

    in Football

PodVader talks with the SuperFans of the NFC South.

Pod quickly goes through the punishment handed out to the Patriots based on the Wells Report findings. He's still ok with Tom Brady being suspended, but the rest is simply garbage.

Who is the team to beat in the NFC South this year?

Can all 4 teams finish with a winning record?  Tim, the Falcons fan, only sees 2 teams.

The SuperFans debate which teams have the best position groupings in the division. Is there a better QB than Drew Brees in the NFC South? One SuperFan thinks so.

The guys run through some key games of the 2015 season for each team and make predictions for final win/loss totals.  Facing the NFC East and AFC South this season, so the teams should do better.
