Justin Dzuban, makes great music!. He is no stranger to unique and classic pop and rock styles and his influences range from Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones to Johnny Cash and Bing Crosby. Doña Oxford, the "Queen of Boogie Woogie" will drop in for a minutes to preview her upcoming birthday bash show at Brennan's in Los Angeles.
This should be another discussion-filled episode, as we talk about Nicki Minaj's latest provacative cover art controversey. As we always do, we'll make sure to cover all elements of hip hop in New York City, and this week, the Rock Steady Crew 37th anniversary weekend was a great example of how one of hip hop's pioneering organizations continues to celebrate all aspects of hip hop music and culture.
We'll also talk with Danielle Mastrion who was commissioned to paint a Beastie Boys tribute mural on the corner of Rivington and Ludlow, the iconic intersection on the cover of the group's album Paul's Boutique.
You know we like to go old to the new, so we'll have a bunch of new, noteworthy rap releases to share with you.
So tune in LIVE starting at 10pm, and get ready to call in and discuss with us.

New York hip hop is once again buzzing loudly, with the recent explosive rise of Brooklyn's Bobby Shmurda. Thanks to the power of the meme, his #ShmoneyDance and the song it was derived from, exploded across social media in the past few weeks, culminating with an "epic" record deal signing.
However, with this meteoric rise, comes plenty of opinions. Many are surprised that such a sudden, possibly flash-in-the-pan artist could (or shoud) literally take over the hip hop industry. What does this say for the integrity of the artform, they ask, when someone can get signed and wildly promoted off of the success of a Vine clip?
On the other hand, many point to Bobby Shmurda as a great example of how a NY-based rap artist should rise to fame... through a make-music-for-my-block-and-the-rest-will-follow attitude, a strong local movement, a catchy song, charisma and well-timed co-signs by outside influencers.
Some will worry that the imagery on display in "Hot Ni**a" is adding to an already violent rap music landscape, and will inspire many more copycats seeking to follow in his footsteps.
Others will remind us that it isn't the music creating the environement, it is the environment creating the music.
We're going to welcome several individuals with diverse opinions on tonight's episode, and invite callers to give their opinion on Bobby Shmurda.
We'll also be speaking with Mikal Amin Lee, aka Hired Gun, an artist, educator and global hip hop representative about his organization Urban Word NYC, and their current fundraising campaign to continue utilizing hip hop as an inspirational teaching tool.
Lastly, we'll preview a slew of great, new NY rap releases we think you should know about.
Tune in! Call in!

It's been an extremely active week in New York hip hop. From the old to the new, from the gritty streets to the artsy fartsy, there's been exciting things going on for fans of the entire spectrum of hip hop music and culture, and as always, we're here to not only talk about it, but talk WITH YOU about it.
This week, we welcome the folks from Freedom City NYC Apparel, a fledgling clothing line, to kick it about the current state of 'urban' clothing, being an entrepreneur and their upcoming Life Free Revolution event in conjunction with Art Rapture.
Also, from huge events like Schoolboy Q in Central Park and the 4th annual Team Fearless Honors, to Ja Rule and 50 Cent, to Battle Rap taking a serious L, to Angie Martinez speaking about her stunning departure from Hot 97, the NY hip hop universe has been buzzing all week. We'll discuss these things, plus get a 1st hand account of the Schoolboy Q SummerStage event, which also featured a slew of New York favorites.
So join us on the only radio show that knows these topics inside out, has been covering this scene for many years and comes on air every week so that we, and most importantly, YOU, can have something to say about it all.
The NY Hip Hop Report is a weekly talk show, featuring discussion regarding relevant New York hip hop topics, interviews with artists and other industry professionals and invites live caller participation. The program, started in 2012 by Birthplace Magazine founder Manny Faces, has included interviews with iconic figures such as Big Daddy Kane and Video Music Box’s Ralph McDaniels, as well as special shows, including an April, 2013 broadcast live from the 10th annual L’Original Festival, a yearly international hip hop festival in Lyon, France.
