Hugo A Navarro was born in Santiago Chile and emigrated to US in 1977. He has lived in Connecticut, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Michigan and California. Here in California, he works with local artists’ projects and exhibitions. He has also participated in projects and exhibitions in Spain, Germany, Mexico, Argentina and Chile. Navarro, is a self-taught artist and a creator of nature in its many aspects. As a creator, here are his inner responses to his latest work, titled “For All These Time.” These paintings were made in a jail cell at the new home of the 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios, located at the former Third Precinct of the Detroit Police Department in the South West Detroit, Michigan Welcome Center.
Musician Craig of Suede will perform live in our studio. He also will talk about his upcoming CD.
The research process continues with the 25th installment of the Bedford & Sullivan Podcast!
I realized recently I was sorely lacking on my research of not only the Negro Leagues in Brooklyn, but Black American history in Brooklyn overall. Producer Brian Winett has been working on developing a TV Series regarding the Negro Leagues, and though his project is not at all Brooklyn-centric, he has gathered plenty of fascinating material regarding the rich history of Black baseball before integration.
We'll discuss his personal baseball roots, what attracted him to the subject of the Negro Leagues, and the character of Rube Foster (the Negro Leagues pioneer). We'll also talk some shop, discussing what the narrative script writing process is like for Brian.
So, join us at 3PM ET for the latest edition of the Bedford & Sullivan Podcast!
What year and what date did the people currently residing in the United States of America turn from Black Afrikans into Black Americans? If the people residing in America today, currently known as "Black" people are not Afrikans, and yet there is no dispute over whether or not there was a Trans-Atlantic Slave trade that brought Afrikans over to America for free slave labor, and these Afrikans slaves that were brought over to America apparently no longer exist and the people currently here are now Black Americans, then you must explain:#1. What happened to the Afrikans that were brought from Afrika to America?#2. What is the starting point for Black American history? If you say we are not Afrikans and your conclusion is based on facts and historical evidence and not butt hurt emotionalism then you should be able to provide a year and a date.

Hey gang. So, with this one I'll riff a bit about black face and put a historical context behind what you see today so that you can better communicate with those that are apathetic. I start the show with a very loud pop record to get the energy going. I think I'll be doing that for every Sunday show. In this episode I'll also riff very shortly about anti-rape shorts and some television program about a negro bed wench that I've watched, never will watch, but I've read about. Here's a few links. http://thegrio.com/2013/10/30/a-brief-history-of-blackface-just-in-time-for-halloween/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/wildwildleft/687981154547077/?comment_id=687995947878931¬if_t=like https://www.facebook.com/FatherTeresasWineCellar http://www.policymic.com/articles/71161/company-wants-women-to-buy-these-anti-rape-shorts
