The NBA regular season is finally underway!!! It has been a tremendous opening week of action and there are certainly no shortage of storylines to discuss. Following a yearlong absence while recovering from a torn ACL, Derrick Rose made his long-awaited return to the hardwood as the Bulls hope to return to championship contention this season.
The H-and-H connection is off to a good start in H-Town as Dwight Howard and James Harden led the Rockets to a convincing opening night victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.
And how about Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Michael Carter-Williams?! The Syracuse product nearly had a quadruple-double as he registered 22 points, 12 assists, nine steals, and seven rebounds in a 114-110 victory over the defending NBA champion Miami Heat.
Cause for concern in L.A.? Following a disappointing opening night performance agains the Los Angeles Lakers, could a lack of depth once again be the achilles heel for the Clippers in 2013-14?
Be sure to tune in as we discuss this and more on this week's edition of NBA Live Talk!
Brevin Knight and James "Satch" Sullinger have participated in basketball on almost every level possible. The two experts will join the show to discuss topics specifically focused on youth participation. Both guests have spent decades in sports and will give first-hand accounts of basketball's impact on their lives.
Brevin Knight spent 12 years in the NBA and is currently a color commentator for Fox Sports following his stellar career at Stanford University. The husband and father of three will share his ideas and concerns about youth sports today based on his experiences, those of his colleagues and those of his children.
Satch Sullinger was honored as the 2010 Naismith National Boy's High School Coach of the year. He's the father of NBA star Jared Sullinger, the Naismith Player of the Year and Ohio State standout. His recent book Winning with Purpose: Raising Our Game and Lifting Our Teammates, on and off the Court was called a "motivational must-read."
The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association commissioned a survey and found that "26.2 million children ages 6 and older played basketball in 2008" and it remains the most popular team sport. Boys numbers are highest, but the numbers for girls have grown as well. Knight and Sullinger will tell us how to make sure that our youth get the most out of their participation.
