Native American Culture in Gaming - A Conversation with Monte Cook Games

    in Entertainment

In the world of fantasy role playing games or any other type of gaming, how can game creators best convey Native culture without lapsing into stereotype? How can they best do it with respect and accuracy?  We talked with Shanna Germain Monte Cook Games - creators of Dungeons and Dragons style RPG "The Strange." Creators have agreed to make positive changes when they were criticized as portraying Indigenous people in a stereotypical way.

We commend Monte Cook Games for their desire to work with the Native community in order to show the world Native people are most than just a stereotype.

Native Broadcast Network Presents-March to May Indie Folk Music from Seattle, WA

    in Music

    Who is March to May?

Darren Guyaz (guitar, vocals, keyboard) roamed the northern Appalachians through his childhood, plinking & plunking the classical keys until he ventured West to his birth-state of Montana, settling in Missoula to finish a degree in Geography. One evening on an old, historic homestead in the hills north of town, he picked up a friend’s guitar and began strumming, teaching himself how to play a few chords, finger-picking his way through the frets, and forever changing his musical expression.

Beth Wesche (Celtic harp, vocals) Beth spent her formative years wandering through the Andes and across a smattering of U.S. states.  The daughter of a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, she stayed in each place just long enough to fall in love with it before moving on to the next adventure.  Music wove its way through her life from an early age - she sang in choirs from elementary school to college, beginning classical voice training and starting to sing a cappella as she grew older.  While living in Ashland, Oregon, she picked up the Celtic folk harp and found herself captivated by the sound.  However, a few short years after beginning to play, she moved to the East Coast, leaving her harp silent in her family’s living room for five years and largely convincing herself that music would have to take a back seat in her life.

James Mooney and Russ Jensen: Oklevueha Native American Church's Legal Authority

    in Religion

James Flaming Eagle Mooney and Russ Jensen are our guests tonight, discussing the legal status and situation of a number of ONAC members. But equally important and effective for those not practicing members of a Native American Church, and is also very timely for the event coming up in April in Sedona, Arizona - and how these doctrines and principles, Law of Necessity, Constitutional Law, Law of Nations, Federal and State Legislative Acts and Court decisions, along with an understanding of the Doctrine Of Negligence, many of these doctrines and Laws  most people have never heard of, can be used to establish, individually, and collectively as communities and societies, an UNSHAKABLE FOUNDATION OF LAWFUL AUTHORITY to support, compliment and dovetail perfectly, specifically, purposefully with the plan and message of the Eagle Queztal Condor Conference and the manuscript of the Elders as detailed and outlined in the manuscript the 4th Way, which I will also be discussing, and showing by direct correlated examples that everyone can read and determine for themselves, as to how so many of the important founding documents, legislative Acts and other Statutes and Law along with messages from indigenous groups and Elders from around the planet have been purposefully, intentionally put into place for our use in these end time days which we are all blessed and have been called upon to participate in, whether or not that calling is consciously recognized and embraced

I am  encouraging your audience to begin to read and educate themselves with, because this Planet needs all of us.
