National Prayer Day
National Day of Prayer (NDP) History: A national day of prayer was called for by the first Continental Congress in 1775 and was first established by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. In 1952, Congress unanimously voted to establish a National Day of Prayer. The day was made official when President Harry S. Truman signed it into law. In 1988, Congress and President Ronald Reagan amended the law to designate the first Thursday in May as National Day of Prayer. Most of the National Day of Prayer efforts are geared at praying for the nation, government leaders, the President, congressmen, and local officials. There are large gatherings on the Mall in Washington D.C. and in thousands of cities across America. A Division of Focus on the Family sponsors the National Day of Prayer. Mrs. Dobson is the Chairperson. Typically, the President and all 50 Governors issue Proclamations for the National Day of Prayer.

National Prayer Day
There will be prayer services across America this day. Seen and unseen prayer services. Gosh America, we do indeed need to have this day. We who are believers have this day to be glad we are Americans. We who are believers have this day to pray specifically for our nation. In 1775 our Congress allocated a time for prayer in forming a new nation. In 1952, President Truman signed a bill proclaiming the National Day of Prayer into law in the United States. President Reagan amended the law in 1988, designating the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer. There are places of employment where employees are not allowed to congregate for prayer on company property? On this National Day of Prayer, Christians, it is our duty to pray for our nation regardless of religious affiliation. Can we join today and be on one accord brethren?

National Day of Prayer News with Amy Everette
Colorado State NDP Coordinator Amy Everette visits with Second Chance Radio. Amy is a distinguished Second Chance with Saving Grace board member and a marketplace and ministry leader with a heart and passion for bringing God’s people together AS ONE, in the spirit, through prayer. Her business, ministry and personal life are interwoven with prayer and a desire to see God’s people healed physically, spiritually and emotionally.
Amy leads Colorado Concert of Prayer with the goal of establishing a concert of non-stop prayer in each of Colorado’s 64 counties. She is also co-owner and Chief Prayer Officer at Marketplace ROCK which takes businesses to higher ground in God’s Kingdom and in their industry by providing a team of intercessors to speak words of encouragement into their life and business while being their spiritual rear guard.
Amy also leads Colorado National Day of Prayer seeking to mobilize and connect people on the first Thursday in May to pray for our cities, state and nation. This year, the goal is to mobilize believers to host over 200 prayer gatherings across Colorado on Thursday, May 2nd in support of the National Day of Prayer. The NDP gathering at the Capitol is called Love Conquers, with the goal of seeing 50+ churches minister to thousands of people at Lincoln Park and the Capitol Building.
