WASHINGTON, August 19, 2015 – On September 14, 2015 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., Sing It America will bring those that love our Star Spangled Banner together to celebrate the past year's "National Thanksgiving for the Star Spangled Banner."
Last year, Sing It America, officially partnered with the government commission Starspangled200 and Friends of Ft McHenry to secure passage of U.S. Senate Resolution 550. Resolution 550 designated the period of September 2014 through September 2015 as the year of National Thanksgiving for the Star Spangled Banner.
The senate resolution encouraged, “All state and local governments and the people of the people of the United States to observe this period of thanksgiving with appropriate ceremonies, activities, educational outreach and reflection.”
All Americans from every corner of the nation are being encouraged to sign up and register right now with Sing It America to join in the historic festivities that day, according to Selena Owens, Sing It America’s Communication’s Director.
A special request is being made to supporters to lend financial support to the historic event.
Joining Standing at Freedom’s Gate host Kevin Fobbs to discuss an update on the event and the exciting plans in store for event attendees is Selena Owens Communications Director for Sing It America.
Owens is also Vice Chair of the Conservative Campaign Committee PAC and author of "The Power Within a Conservative Woman: Engaging America for God Family, and Country.”
Aaron will be welcoming National Anthem Girl, Janine Stange. She is traveling and singing the National Anthem in all 50 states.
Janine Stange, also known as The National Anthem Girl, made history once when she was invited to sing the National Anthem for MetLife Stadium's inaugural event, the Konica Minolta Big City Classic in April 2010.
Now Janine’s goal is to make history once again by performing the National Anthem in all 50 states before September 14, 2014, which marks its 200th anniversary from the time Francis Scott Key penned the lyrics for the song.
Born and raised in Long Island, NY, Janine Stange currently resides in Los Angeles, CA where she founded the non-profit National Anthem Girl. She performed the Star Spangled Banner hundreds of times throughout high school, college and even during her career as a recording artist. In 2008, Janine released her third studio album, which was later distributed to iTunes and included a recording of the National Anthem in an effort to honor America.
Past performances from Janine include singing the National Anthem for: NY Knicks, NY Nets, Cincinnati Reds, Pro Bull Riders, MLL Championships, Tennis Hall of Fame, Patriot Tour with Marcus Luttrell, Monster Jam, AMA Supercross, Brooklyn Nets, LA Kings, LA Galaxy, NY Islanders, Georgia Tech, Xavier University, UCLA and more.

Recently in the news there are reports that NBA player Dion Waiters of the Cleveland Cavaliers refused to join his team on the floor during the time of the National Anthem or for the announcing of his team's starting five players. This report stirred memories of former NBA player Mahmoud Abdul Rauf. Later yesterday Waiters, via Twitter, denied the report.

Dave Newhouse has spent 50-plus years as a sportswriter and columnist, mostly at the Oakland Tribune in Oakland, California. In addition, he has written 11 books, including two which will be published in 2015. “Forgotten 49ers: The Dark Days before the Dynasty” deals with the beginning of the San Francisco 49ers, and their early, mostly disappointing years before the franchise became a dynasty in the 1980s under Bill Walsh. There has been no book on the 49ers like this book, as it includes interviews with 49er players from as far back as the 1940s, including two Original 49ers in 1946. This book, published by The Kent State University Press, has be released. Newhouse’s second book, as yet untitled, is a Hoosiers-like story involving former Cal basketball coach Lou Campaneili’s previous job at James Madison University in Virginia. George F. Thompson Publishing will release this book mid-fall. Newhouse grew up in Menlo Park, California, and held the shot put record at Menlo-Atherton High School. After four years in the United States Air Force, during which time he entered the field of journalism on assignment in France, he was graduated from San Jose State University in 1964. That same year he began working for the Oakland Tribune, from which he retired in November 2011. For nearly five years in the 1980s, he hosted a radio sports talk show in San Francisco. He has appeared on numerous television sports documentaries. He had received national and local awards for his writings and commentaries, and was honored by the Multi-Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame in Oakland in 2014. Though 76, he isn't slowing down; he has other book projects ahead. He lives in Oakland with his wife of 50 years

Are you a winner? Clareta Haddon-Jackson's new single "Winner's Anthem" will testify that we win being Christ's Kids. Clareta has not limited herself to just being an incredible vocalist, from the well known gospel music family "The Haddons". She has proven that her ability to write, co-produce and acting is as much a part of her artistic expression as her singing! Now, often referred to as a singing and preaching machine.
First timers and fans alike boast of her amazing stage presence, admitting publicly that talent like hers only comes once in a lifetime.
