Nara and Jc Niala
Your host Karen Palmer of www.lawofattractionmagic.com welcomes an amazing Mother/daughter team. Nara is the author of a beautiful children's book, "Cows are too big to eat". Nara is five years old who lives in Riara, Nairobi and is from Kenya. She says she just thought of the book which is why she wanted to do it. She loves animals. She thinks it is important not to eat meat because you upset your animal friends. JC Niala is a creative whose work became informed by her experience of motherhood. She started off making documentaries and writing plays in her teens and later the birth of her daughter lead her into the world of children's books. As she works from home her daughter Nara got to witness firsthand the process of book production from inception to working with an illustrator to the book going to press. As vegetarians they decided to work on a book together in support of their animal friends. They live with a dog called Ours (the french for bear). i think on the show we would like to talk about the importance of advocacy on behalf of animals and the joy of living alongside them. In Kenya we are fortunate to have a lot of animals still living in their natural habitat but their existence is increasingly threatened. Nara can can certainly talk about the joys of living with a dog and about how this teaches us to understand animals all around us. I can talk about the process of giving children (and animals) a voice through the creative process.

Searching for Your Virgin Islands Roots with David Lynch
Bernice Bennett welcomes David Lynch who brings a new approach to searching his Caribbean roots, specifically in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the former Danish West Indies. David used his 20 years of experience in scientific research to guide his work in uncovering his family’s 300 year history in the islands. Very few records are available online, so David explored the rarely used NARA RG 55 in College Park and other sources. These records hold a wealth of information including tax lists and a nearly complete set of newspapers from St Croix dating from the early 1800’s. In the process he learned a lot about the islands, the people, and a family history that was very different then he expected.
He chronicles his discoveries in his blog – 200 Year’s in Paradise – selected as one of Family Tree Magazine's Top 40 for 2012.

Japan's Forgotten Vedic Legacy/Omen of The Sea-God's Messenger/Agnihotra Ritual Radiation Defense
Buddhism rose within the Indian context. Rather than a ‘new religion’ it was simply a new method of practice within the same Dharmic context. We find evidence of this from the Japanese records. The location of Kannon's paradise Fudarakusen most commonly placed near the southern tip of India, suggests a south Indian origin for this deity. At Nara, Kannon is protected by the Shi Tennon (Four Heavenly Kings). These figures were originally four ancient devas in India.Traditional rel
