Spirituality/Teaching Native Youth
How important is it to teach our children in the spirituality of their ancestors?
Host Russ Letica and guest Daphie Pooyak Nakota/Cree is from Sweetgrass First Nation, will explore the importance of maintaining spirituality of our ancestors in our youth.
Among other things, Russ and Daphie will discuss Spirituality - meaning a sense of connection to the universe and to a higher power as opposed to Religion - that means an organized system of worship that gives a framework to the relationship we have with the universe and with a higher power. Daphie Pooyak is a traditional teacher cultural advisor, story teller, creators helper, survivalist. She works in many communities helping people understand universal laws, spiritual understanding, and our place as human beings in this world as our part of creation. She filed a Class Action Lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Church in 2003. She filed a Class Action Lawsuit against the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Mismanagement of Dakota Tribal Trust Funds in 2003.
Roderica will discuss the physical and sexual assault on generations of Native American children at Marty Mission. She will discuss how this abuse, physical and sexual, by the Roman Catholic Church, which has directly and indirectly impacted generations of Native Americans.
Roderica will discuss the Class Action Lawsuit for Mismanagement of Dakota Tribal Trust Funds in 2003.
