Basic Strategy To Better manage Caregiving
Second Chance Team Member Lynn Greenblatt is a family caregiver for her husband, who has Complex Regional Pain Syndrome [CRPS], and a long-distance caregiver for her mother, who is rebuilding a new life after losing her beloved husband of 50 years almost 5 years ago. Caregiving began for Lynn when her father was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in December of 2007. As her father's condition deteriorated, her husband began to experience painful symptoms that took 5 months to diagnose. She became her husband's primary caregiver in 2008, shortly before her father passed away. Lynn's message to family caregivers is to reach out to use the resources that are available to them to better manage caregiving, to create a Care Team to reduce stress & isolation, and to practice self-care in order to remain strong throughout their caregiving journey.
