The Tribute to the Troops: Race for the Wounded Warriors was originated by Hesler Motorsports in July 2011 as an exhibition event between the drivers at I-37 Raceway/Newsome Motor Park, with the proceeds, as well as individual donations, going to the Wounded Warrior Project and Center for the Intrepid Fund. Also known as "Warrior Fest" and held on Fourth of July weekend, Hesler Motorsports wanted the opportunity to give back to the Military community by providing a day of racing entertainment, food and fun to celebrate all veterans, active duty, and their friends and family. Andrew Hesler, lead driver of the 1x Hesler Motorsports Limited Late Model, is a 14 year Veteran of the United States Army. He was medically released in 2009 due to an injury caused by an improvised explosive device, or IED. His love for motor sports and the Military, combined with the discipline he learned in the Army, is what motivates him on, and off, the track. His accomplishments in both fields include the prestigious Soldiers Medal, which he received for saving the life of a drowning individual, and a 1st place trophy and 2009 Rookie Driver of the Year at I-37 Raceway. Brandon Hadden from Vidialia,Ga will be making the trip over to Texas to participate in this event.Brandon is one of the youngstrers running in the superstreet class around the Central Ga dirt tracks.He joins us as we get ready to learn about his adventure to Texas and what it means to him to be able to participate in this event.
Hurricane Henry Carter come into the Motorsports Weekly studio and is bringing along with him in this racing storm Chris Turner from Rentz,Ga who drives the #28 purestock at Swainsboro Raceway and another young crate latemodel standout in the name of Austin Scarboro who drives the Trent Hall #18 crate latemodel at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro,Ga
Motorsports Weekly Goes Back to School;Race 101 .On this show we learn about what Race 101 teach the youngsters about racing,we will cover the ins and out on how they work with their students on marketing and sponsorship.Graduate,Employee and Driver Derrick Robbie will be on to discuss Race 101 and his racing career.He will be bringing along two other drivers with him;they are Garret Merchant and Clifton SavageClifton Savage got his start in racing in 2008, thanks to his father Harry Savage. One month after graduating high school, Clifton made his first race ever on July 3rd, 2008 at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia.Garrett Marchant is only fifteen, but he has done more than the average teen has done by this age. Garrett is a race car driver from Roanoke Rapids, NC and has started to make an impact in the racing world.Derek is a fun-loving 15-year-old boy who truly enjoys life. During his free time, he enjoys being in the fresh air playing basketball, riding his bike, or running through the woods. The rest of the time away from school is spent in the garage working on his race car.
