The Legal Show Mercy Killing or Murder for Convenience? Part 2

    in Legal

Attorney Sarah Steele and writer Bennet Pomerantz discuss the subjects of the day.

The audience should know that although Ms. Steele is a licensed attorney, she is not offering legal advice in any capacity, is not establishing an attorney/client relationship with anyone listening to the show, and recommends that any listener of the show consult a local attorney for any legal advice they may require.

This show is about us discussing hot topics and how they relate to the law.

Continuing from last week, the hosts conclude their two part series on the controversial topic of mercy killings.  Tonight the hosts ask “sometimes isn’t a cigar just a cigar?” when they look at the case of Barbara Mancini.  Ms. Mancini, 57, of Philadelphia, was charged last summer with giving a nearly full bottle of morphine to her father, Joseph Yourshaw, at his Pottsville home in February 2013 for the purpose of helping him end his life. Yourshaw died at a hospital four days later after a hospice nurse called 911. The judge said that prosecutors had neither established that Yourshaw intended to take his own life, nor that Mancini helped him do it.  Join Bennet and Sarah as they conclude their series on so-called “mercy killings” and how they relate to the law.

    American wickedness “Project MKULTRA”

    in Politics Conservative

Project ARTICHOKE (also referred to as Operation ARTICHOKE) was a CIA project that researched interrogation methods and arose from Project BLUEBIRD on August 20, 1951, run by the CIA's Office of Scientific Intelligence.[1] A memorandum by Richard Helms to CIA director Allen Welsh Dulles indicated Artichoke became Project MKULTRA on April 13, 1953

The project studied hypnosis, forced morphine addiction (and subsequent forced withdrawal), and the use of other chemicals, among other methods, to produce amnesia and other vulnerable states in subjects.

ARTICHOKE was a program of mind control that gathered information together with the intelligence divisions of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and FBI. In addition, the scope of the project was outlined in a memo dated January 1952 that stated, "Can we get control of an individual to the point where he will do our bidding against his will and even against fundamental laws of nature, such as self-preservation

1947: Colonel E.E. Kirkpatrick of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission issues a secret document (Document 07075001, January 8, 1947) stating that the agency will begin administering intravenous doses of radioactive substances to human subjects.

1947: The CIA begins its study of LSD as a potential weapon for use by American intelligence. Human subjects (both civilian and military) are used with and without their knowledge.

MORPHOLOGY (Morph = FORM) + (Logy = WORD)

    in Religion

MORPHOLOGY; THE FORM OR FORMING OF THE WORD The expression of the WORD into form or matter!
THE WORD BECAME FLESH! The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son.  John1:14
The word "morphology" is from the Ancient Greek μορφ?, morphé = form and λ?γος, lógos = word, study, research. The biological concept of morphology was developed by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1790) and independently by the German anatomist and physiologist Karl Friedrich Burdach.
In English-speaking countries, the term "molecular morphology" has been used for some time for describing the structure of compound molecules, such as polymers. and RNA. The term "gross morphology" refers to the collective structures or an organism as a whole as a general description of the form and structure of an organism, taking into account all of its structures without specifying an individual structure.
1830 in biology; 1869 in philology; from Gk. morphe (see morphine) + -logy. Related: Morphological.
Morpheus - name for the god of dreams in Ovid, son of Sleep, lit. "the maker of shapes," from Gk. morphe "form, shape, beauty, outward appearance," perhaps from PIE *merph-, possible Gk. root meaning "form," of unknown origin.
