    Moonlight And More

    in Entertainment

The oft-stated "reason" that was given for Moonlight's cancellation was poor ratings numbers. Research has shown that Moonlight averaged 7.5 to 8 million viewers each Friday night that aired a new episode.

The Nielsen Ratings System is the vehicle by which most television ratings are tabulated. The system is 40+ years old and has changed little over the four decades since its creation.

What did the ratings show in regard to Moonlight? How does this compare historically to other shows which air during the week, and to other shows that currently air or have aired in Moonlight's 9pm to 10pm PT/ET time slot?

Each week, we will be discussing the current status of Operation Save Moonlight, what the cast and crew are doing, and information on what you can do to help change this antiquated system that, while it may have more accurately represented our viewing habits when it was created 40+ years ago, it no longer accurately reflects viewers' television watching habits.

    Moonlight Social Live

    in Military

Join us this week as we welcome the country/rock band, Moonlight Social. Hailing from Austin, TX., the duo met as peers in The University of Texas Longhorn Band - Jennica Scott as a member of the trumpet section, and Jeremy Burchard as a member of the drumline. What started as a spontaneous jam session and a few cover recordings in Burchard’s tiny apartment quickly developed into a full-time musical collaboration. Scott’s rich vocals and harmonious country sensibilities married with Burchard’s eclectic guitar style and expansive rock roots create the signature sound of Moonlight Social - that is, inventive yet familiar, spontaneous yet calculated, varied yet grounded. The band has played all around Texas, bringing along a talented collection of backing musicians. They released their debut self-produced EP in May 2011. Their debut album "Heading South" was released in 2012 to critical acclaim.  We will talk to them about their upcoming schedule, get a behind the scenes look at their music, feature their latest songs, and ask them to share their message for the troops. Please be sure to visit Moonlight Social at http://www.moonlightsocialmusic.com/ and spread the word. Fans are welcome to call in and speak live with with them during the show (718) 766-4193  If you would like to participate in the live chat during the show, you must sign up on the show site first and then log in during the show. More great music for a really great cause! And as always we will give shout outs to our deployed military listeners. This is sure to be a terrific show so be sure to join us, Sunday March 16th 2014 at 4:30 PM EDT! Our message to the troops....WE do what we do, because YOU do what you do.

Nicholas Thurkettle, Co-Author of Historical Fiction Novel "Seeing by Moonlight"

    in Books

1941 - On the eve of America’s entry into World War II, Nazi Germany is developing a new weapon of unprecedented power, one that will give them ultimate victory over all the nations of the world. But the war turns against them before it is completed, and a conspiracy forms to preserve the weapon and carry on the research.

1999 - At the dawn of a new century, Alex Pyke, a self-styled bachelor entrepreneur, wants only the American Dream of a bigger house and a fatter bank account. But a business opportunity lures him back to Germany, the country he left as an orphan of five during the height of the Cold War. Upon his arrival, he is swept up in a deadly adventure involving an aging industrialist and his brilliant, beautiful niece. Even as Alex unravels the mysteries of his own family’s history, he makes a discovery that will change the direction of his life, and maybe the whole world beyond.

Seeing by Moonlight is a thriller that combines uncovered history of the German rocketry program with a science fiction twist to create a sweeping tale of secrets and love that spans generations past, present, and future.

Nicholas Thurkettle has worn many hats in the creative world – screenwriter, playwright, novelist, journalist, editor, ghostwriter, stage producer/director, actor, feature film story executive and consultant, teacher, production crew member. He works independently in Los Angeles with the continuing goal of bringing good work to audiences anywhere he can find them.

Nicholas is the co-author (with M.F. Thomas) of the acclaimed thriller novel Seeing by Moonlight, and the author of the short story collection Stages of Sleep. He earned his degree in Theatre Performance and Music at Bradley University, and is a proud member of the Writers Guild of America and the Orange County Playwrights Alliance.

Tina M. Games is the author of Journaling by the Moonlight: A Mother's Path to Self-Discovery (an interactive book with an  accompanying deck of 54 journaling prompt cards). As a certified creativity and life purpose coach, she is the "Moonlight Muse" for women who want to tap into the "full moon within" and claim their authentic self, both personally and professionally. Through her signature coaching program, based on the phases of the moon, Tina gently guides women from darkness to light as they create an authentic vision filled with purpose, passion and creative expression.    Tina has always had a fascination with the moon. After studying the phases of the moon in astronomy  classes and the astrological impact it can have on personal transformation, she began to explore the  spiritual connections that the moon has brought to many cultures over thousands of years. No matter  where we are in the world, we can see the moon. It’s something that we all have in common.    The show will give Tina the opportunity to share stories from other moms who embarked on similar journeys. The book was designed as a workbook with a journaling format, the book allows for personal reflection with many opportunities to answer the question, “I’m a mother, but who am I really?”  Tina also introduces moon sign astrology and moon folklore to lay the foundation for a spiritual, moonlit journey  toward an authentic life filled with purpose, passion and creative expression. Embark on an intimate  adventure of self-exploration - and discover your full moon.
