The mission: to break the cycle of Domestic Violence by providing resources and life changing programs to those women and their children who are victimize by domestic violence.
Cheryl’s Powerful Story - “When did I start Living?” The answer to that question is, I was always living but it was in a domestic violence situation for 17 years. Everyone thought my marriage was perfect.
It was not until I told myself that I had enough of this and there had to be a better life for me and my children. When I made that decision, that first step was probably the hardest decision I ever had to make.
I opened up to my pastors, family members and other organizations that supported me. One day in 1997, after carefully planning my getaway, I moved my kids and myself to another state to start my new life.
I am truly a living testimony of someone taking back their life. And out of appreciation from what was given to me, I plan to assist other women that are currently in the same situation I was in. Once you realize that you are not alone, your journey will be a little easier to travel.

I have a dream...Celebrating Our Jubilee!
Our forefathers and mothers planted trees from which we gather fruit, and dug wells from which we quench our thirst. Civil Rights Activist marched for us, died for us and pleaded for our equality.
So what are we leaving behind for our communities today? What are we fostering in the minds of our Black children? How will we strengthen our families and our communities? How will we show the power of LOVE in the world?
Fifty years ago, Dr. King's "I Have a Dream..." Speech debuted in Detroit and transformed a nation. Today, we Celebrate the Year of Jubilee and join in that movement of teaching us all to evolve in our beliefs, values and purpose for elevation of our consciousness into the greatness that lies in the Human Spirit.
This past Sunday was Mother's Day, and my first one without my Queen Mother, Diva Dee as she was often lovingly called. It was definitely a rough patch to endure, as her memories brought both joy and pain. I don't think we are ever prepared for losing loved one, but one thing is for sure - we have to find new beginnings after the storm.
I focused on three things to manage my first Mother's Day without her, because last year, my sisters and I all surprised her with a weekend getaway. I focused on: 1) How could I bring happiness to someone else; 2) Support myself emotionally; and 3) Serve others to make a difference?
Tune in to today's show to learn how focusing our intentions can help navigate us through the storms of life and create opportunities to find joy and peace through service to others. It's important to find some activity that can uplift your emotions into ones that nourish your soul. For me, it was taking my focus off me through service, which in turn filled my heart with lighter emotions to weather the storm.
We are powerful, and together we rise!

I talk about UFC on FOX from 4/18/2015. Plus I read to myself, horribly edited I might add, a funny news article involving the theft of groceries subsequent getaway by using the shopping cart as the getaway car. Also I tell a true story in a way that was supposed to be funny but, well, I'll let you be the judge of that. You'll hear me come in real low towards the end there when The Dabby is barking. Apparently I was the only one trying to keep the noise down trying not to wake the wife. Later.
The very idea of having fun on vacation without drinking can be daunting, especially for those of us who once planned our resort time around swim up bars and vineyard tours. Is it possible to have fun travelling and stay sober? How do we ensure that we have the support we need away from our usual recovery-centered routines? Whether it is a summer camping trip or a mid-winter beach getaway, vacations require a little extra planning and consideration in sobriety. On this week’s show Jean, Amanda and Catherine will all recount their recent vacations to explore what worked well, what went wrong, and what they might try differently next time.
Travel to Providenciales, Turks & Caicos with Travel The World on the Communities Digital News Hour.
Old Man Winter hit the east coast of the U.S. with a vengeance this winter, which means the Caribbean beckons. The Turks & Caicos are within easy reach from the U.S., especially the Atlantic coast, and the Sands at Grace Bay is an ideal getaway to escape the common cold.
No imagination is required to see how this lovely 114-suite resort in the up-and-coming Turks & Caicos Islands derives its name. From the moment you cast your eyes upon the seemingly endless expanse of powdery white beach that seeps gently into crystal-clear turquoise and ultra-marine waters, you are beguiled by timeless rhythms that wash over you and cast your fate to the winds.
The Turks & Caicos are situated in the British West Indies south of the Bahamas and north of the Dominican Republic. The archipelago of 41 islands and cays is less than 600 miles from Miami and is accessible by air from Florida in about 80 minute
