Medical Device Packaging: Standard Changes in Dye Penetratio
Tags: medical device packaging ASTM Dye Penetration Hal Miller
Maintaining seal integrity is a high priority in medical device packaging, therefore testing standards need to be relevant and applicable. Join us as Hal Miller discusses dye penetration testing and how the two new dye application methods added to the ASTM F1929-12 Standard Test Method for Detecting Leaks in Porous Medical Packaging by Dye Penetration will benefit medical device packaging.
Join the Medical Packaging Innovation community at 1:00 p.m. UTC for "Medical Device Packaging: Standard Changes in Dye Penetration Testing," where Hal will discuss:
Why the two new dye test methods were added. What other revisions were made to the standard besides the additional methods. If this test method is for paper, Tyvek pouches, and trays with one clear side, what should be used for film and foil packages?
Speaker Bio: Hal Miller has been a packaging professional in the healthcare industry for the past 35 years. He is a widely recognized expert in the healthcare packaging field and has been extremely active in establishing international standards for sterile medical packaging. He is a contributing author of ISO 11607-1, author of the initial draft of ISO 11607-2, and is past co-chair of the US sub-TAG to ISO/TC 198/Working Group 7 on Packaging. Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately? There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective. Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting. But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree! If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!

Tags: Pro Sports Pro Hockey Stanley Cup Playoffs Pro Baseball MLB
Join us for Sports With The StatMan for our pro talk segment on Wednesday night. We will be on after (more likely, during) Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final in Boston. The Bruins wrestled home-ice away from Chicago by earning a split at the United Center. Can the Bruins take a commanding lead or will they give home-ice right back? We break down the first four games of the series right here. Also, the NHL Awards were low-key this year, but the votes are in. Who won? Zach Wheeler will make his major league debut on Tuesday in a doubleheader against Atlanta that will also feature Matt Harvey starting the other game. Of the few days to focus on the Mets, Tuesday has to be one of those days. Also, the Yankees and Dodgers will meet, both the Yanks and Sox battle Tampa, and the Mets and Phillies will meet in Philadelphia next weekend. We'll talk local and go around the league. Plus, stay tuned for our Hot Topics segment. Listen live on Wednesday night at 11pm ET or download the podcast here. "Like" the show on Facebook. Dr. McCoy's TriCorder is here today!
Tags: medical check-up medical scan machine sickness disease health
My show this week is about the future of medicine. For almost a year now, I have been having a friend of mine scan my body with her "Dr. McCoy TriCorder" machine. The machine she is using was developed years ago in Europe and then brought to this country to train doctors, and the AMA together with the FDA stopped it. Now there is a report that a new company is coming out with a device called the Scanadu Scout. You can google it. And this is the future. Soon we will all have a read-out on our smart phone that tells us everything that we need to know about our health and what to do about it! We will be our own doctor. And all you might have to do to get well is to wear purple! So listen in tonight as Linda gives me the reading of my current scan and see what you have to look forward to.
