Author of "Laughter is the Breast Medicine", speaker and cancer awareness advocate and mentor, Eileen Kaplan speaks on being a survivor of breast cancer, prevention of the disease and dealing with the issues associated with cancer and it's aftermath. She speaks with humor and heart on making the lifestyle changes necessary for combating all types of cancer. Her message of having a good attitude and positive thinking in life is crucial in dealing with the disease as well as taking good care of yourself, physically. She says that her journey was tempered by family and humor saying that "you can cry in joy or you can laugh in joy" and to keep in mind that laughter is therapeutic.
She has always been active in fundraising for cancer research. The year before her own diagnosis, she was awarded the "Daffodil Award" by The American Cancer Society for her successful campaign in raising money for cancer research. Never did she realize that the money she raised could possibly have been used for her own successful diagnosis.
She has spoken at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Yawkey Center for Cancer Care in Boston as well as numerous other health systems and community organizations. She was invited to attend the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's March For The Cure in 2010 and has attended "The Pink Warrior's" retreat. The American Cancer Society has invited her to speak at their Survivor's Celebration.
She has been interviewed on many Radio and TV programs around the country.
Her speeches and interviews are always upbeat and enlightening about her personal journey as a "Survivor." Some of the comments have been, "super, wonderful, inspiring, very funny and amazing."
W Mitchell, who prefers to be called just "Mitchell," has told his story about overcoming seemingly insurmountable disaster to millions of people around the globe, including Parade Magazine, Time Magazine, USA Today, Good Morning America, The Today Showand Maury Povich.
Having overcome two life-threatening and life-changing accidents, the first a fiery motorcycle accident and the second an airplane crash, W Mitchell says, "Before I was paralyzed there were 10,000 things I could do. Now there are 9,000. I can either dwell on the 1,000 I've lost or focus on the 9,000 I have left." His remarkable message inspires audiences to shed self-imposed baggage and obstacles that prevent them from achieving their goals.
The title of W Mitchell's book is also his philosophy on life, It's Not What Happens to You...It's What You do About It. This expert on taking responsibility for change shows audiences how to gain perspective, how to cope, and how to prosper with personal and professional change.
