MMSRS 57 - What is a Military Spouse?

    in Military

Male Military Spouses. We know how we feel when we join in with the unit family readiness meetings - alone, odd, left-out. But are we the only ones? Is our "uniqueness" truly ours? Join host Dave Etter as we discuss this very perception. Call (516) 453-9167 live and join in!

MMSRS is a weekly 2-hour web-based call-in radio show (516-453-9167), hosted by Dave Etter, focusing on the needs of men married to serving military members, both men and women. Male Military Spouses are a small niche of military spouses, comprising of only 7%-8% of all military spouses. We feel left out, usually, at support functions - especially those designed with the spouses being identified as "wives"! We get cajoled at playgrounds where our kids play, from the mommies there who think we don't belong. We are proud SAHDs, who gave up our careers to follow our spouses as they dedicate thier lives to defend our country! Here, on this show, we come together and share beer recipes, diaper changing techniques, financial discoveries - manly things, for men! Typically airs Fridays at 9am CT, rated R for the cussing that can occur, and always available for download (podcast) immediately following each show.

Police Brutality: It's not all Black and White

    in US Government

Some say, "what you don't know, can't hurt you." Do you know your rights? What should you do if you are ever stopped or approached by a law enforcement officer? Racial tension is growing in America largely because of the media coverage of black males being killed by white police officers. However, there is more to the story than us outsiders actually know...until now!

Join host Tammy Gaitor and co-host Rodney Jordan as the Butterfly Evolution show welcomes Retired Police Chief Robert Moore for a "not to be missed" episode Monday, February 8, 2016. From the cotton fields of Mississippi to a presidential appointment by former United States president, Bill Clinton, Chief Moore served as the U.S. Marshal for the central district of Illinois. After a successful tenure, he returned to Jackson, Mississippi as the Chief of Police. Little did he know, he would have to fire an officer his first day on the job. "We know that there are bad cops patrolling your neighborhoods. We want them off of your streets just as bad as you do but you all are not helping us," he recently told a crowd of anxious young people at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Chief Robert Moore is the author of the new history book, "The President's Men: Black United States Marshals in America. He is also well known for his numerous published articles in police magazines covering a wide range of topics including, Strategies for Increasing Black Executives, Racial Profiling, History of the Minority Police Officers in Illinois State Police, Solving the crisis of Black Youth in America.

Set your reminders now, you do not want to miss this show!

The War on Police Continues #LESMA

    in Current Events

A Paris police department was attacked this morning, moments after President Hollande paid tribute to officers fallen in the line of duty. The man was weilding a knife and wearing a fake suicide vest.

We will be discussing this and many other hot button police issues around the nation.

In light of recent events such as Obama's executive gun control and Alabama's Chief Justice ordering a halt on gay marriage licenses, the war on police seems to have taken a back burner in the US media. We are still focused on defending our officers.

Join us today for discussion about the realities of this war on Blue Justice today at 11:30 EST. Call in and join the conversation 347-850-8154

  • A DISCUSSION OF NATIONAL POLICE DAY

    in Politics Conservative

A Police Day” which takes place on SA, September 19, 2015. Here’s the deal, give every law enforcement officer a roll of Blue LifeSavers, as part of Police Supporter “Project Blue Life Saver.” The reason is because blue is the color most representative of police officers and they are literally "life savers". So, hand a blue role of LifeSavers (Pep O Mint) to any police officer, deputy sheriff, state trooper, Game Warden, FBI Special Agent or any publicly funded law enforcement officer with the power of arrest and tell him/her "THANK YOU." That's it! It would be nice if you can get media coverage, since any good press concerning law enforcement is great! Also, post images on FB Police Supporter and Police Talk Radio. We’ll take other callers with open discussion on any topic related to the police function. Our chat room is opened to interact with others from the Police Supporter and Police Talk Radio family. So, buckle-up and join us for an informative, entertaining and energetic Police Talk Radio ride.

Military Monday with USNI Press Author Dwight Hughes – A CONFEDERATE BIOGRAPHY

    in History

Most Americans, when they think about the Civil War, probably remember the great land battles like Gettysburg and Shiloh, not realizing that there also was a significant maritime conflict as well. From inland waterways to the deep oceans, Union and Confederate naval forces were engaged in a four-year struggle for control of the trade routes to and from North America. One key campaign was the Confederate attempt to interdict key Union maritime activities, particularly whaling ships which supplied important oil products. To accomplish this task, Confederate Secretary of the Navy Stephen Mallory commissioned and acquired a small number of armed merchant cruisers, mostly from Great Britain. Though few in number, these merchant cruisers harassed Union trade routes across the globe, and required the Union Navy to commit valuable resources to hunt them down. Along the way their captains and crews became legends in the annals of American naval history.

To learn more about the Confederate commerce raiding campaign, tune into this week's edition of Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network (@Writestream)) at 1 PM EST. Author, historian, journalist, documentary filmmaker, and host John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) has invited U.S. Naval Institute Press (@USNIBooks) author Dwight Hughes to discuss his new book, A CONFEDERATE BIOGRAPHY.  The book chronicles the voyage of the Confederate merchant cruiser CSS Shenandoah, which in 1864 and 1865, circumnavigated the globe on an epic wartime cruise. Listeners are encouraged to call in and offer questions and opinions to both gentlemen, in what will be certainly an intriguing hour.
