ZBTR Roundtable: Return Migration
The ZBTR Roundtable will examine the issue of return migration which is increasingly becoming a major theme in migration studies as the number of immigrants returning to their home countries is increasing. Based on the article written by Chola Mulenga a Zambian Diaspora resident, there are numerous factors at play before one considers the whole concept of returning home to re-settle. When is it right to return home? To what extent does the political situation influence this decision?
The roundtable will also examine the recent events at Zambia Railways Limited and its CEO who left his job as a college professor/lecturer to take the helm of the embattled Railway company. Has Professor Chirwa’s outbursts and salary perks demands undermined the Diaspora communities credibility and loyalty to their homeland?

The South Bay Show
I am a poet, philosopher and photographer. An ambitious amateur. And I am not interested in making money by any of those means because I think it kind of takes the fun out of it.
I never really figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I just continue to grow and be amazed by the world.
One of my best accomplishments was starting and nurturing a gardening business until it grew and bloomed and made me money and lifelong friends and a way to be outside. I eventually sold it and my home and I and my partner bought an RV and now we travel full time. My home stays the same, but my view out the window constantly changes.
Our travels took us as far east as the tip of Texas to follow bird migrations. It is totally awesome what some birds go through to get from Pt. A to Pt. B.
Our migration pattern like so many so called Snowbirds is to flee south for the winter and head up to the higher elevations for the hot summer days.
People ask me where my fave places are, and the first place to come to mind is Canyon de Chelly, a National Park in Arizona, but other than that not near any major city. Going there is going back in time, like centuries.
You are driving along one minute in the desert when the ground drops several hundred feet. Now you are looking at a green belt and sensuous river serpentining along a valley with red rock walls.
This valley has been occupied and lived in for thousands of years. And not much has changed. I took pictures of course, but you really do have to see it to believe it. I answered a survey once that asked you to say one word to describe yourself and your relationship with life. Wow!

"From the Dark Ages to The Intellectual Dark Ages in 2013"
The Witness Of Early Americans
Governor John Winthrop was a Puritan leader who helped to establish the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630 and is one of the original founders of the city of Boston. He is most famous for his sermon, given while still on board the ship that brought him to the new world, in which he used the phrase "city on a hill" in reference to the colonization of America. Among his reasons for the Puritan migration were that it would be:
"...a service to the Church of great consequence to carry the Gospel into those parts of the world....and to raise a Bulwark against the kingdom of Antichrist which the Jesuits labour to rear up in those parts."
By "kingdom of Antichrist" Winthrop clearly communicated the Reformed belief that the Pope's Holy Roman Empire was the end-time "beast" kingdom, prophesied in the Book of Revelation, which was spreading itself to countries such as China, Japan and India. In North America, Rome's Jesuit missionaries had already infiltrated a number of Indian tribes, making converts to Catholicism. It is worth noting that Winthrop considered opposition to Rome to be an important part of the task in establishing America as a city on a hill. In fact, the Massachusetts Bay colony took strong measures to protect itself from the infiltration of the Jesuit Order:
