    in Sports

Scott Souza from the MetroWest Daily News will be joining us tonight after the game against the Toronto Raptors. As you well know, the Celtics dropped 3 out of their 4 match-ups during the holiday week and lost Garnett just as the glut of injured players were preparing to return to the floor. Jermaine O'Neal was the first to get healthy and the most likely to bridge the gap during KG's absence. Scott had this article on O'Neal after the loss to the Hornets Friday:

"O'Neal still looks uneasy in the team's offense and a little behind on conditioning - he's only been through three practices since swelling flared in his knee Nov. 8 in Dallas - but he was on the floor for Boston's 18-0 run in the second half and was a deterrent in the paint all day.

"We're down a man and we're down a very important man (in Garnett)," O'Neal said. "You have to be willing to do whatever the coach asks you to in that situation."

Rivers praised the play of O'Neal over the past three games, saying he is giving the team the defense it needs while letting his offense slowly develop. O'Neal has said throughout his injury-marred run in Boston that rebounding and shot blocking are the two things he knows he can help the club with even when his shooting and timing are off."

    Featured Guest: Scott Souza

    in Sports

A tumultous week of Celtics news came to a close on Sunday night as Jon and Justin kicked off the latest edition of Celtics Stuff Live. Scott Souza from the MetroWest Daily News and Celtics Stuff Live chatted with the CSL guys on the injuries to KG, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo as well as expounding on his most recent CSL article on Doc's use of "The Kids." Following Scott's interview, Justin and Jon delved into the sticky watters surrounding the initial reports regarding Garnett's knee injury and how the ambiguity with how these reports were crafted by some sources and then cravenly reported in others left Celtics fans guessing. Thanks to Steve Bulpett's work at the Herald, all doubt was removed.

Celtics Stuff Live took to the "studio" Sunday night after an overtime victory against the Knicks earlier that afternoon. The Madison Square Matinee did not seem to improve Justin's confidence that the team was back on the winning track, while Jon was far more reassured despite being exasperated with Friday night's loss to the Magic. Scott Souza from the MetroWest Daily News joined us to discuss the ills of the team following an excellent article on the topic from today. Scott reminded us about our preseason prediction that Garnett would inevitably need some time to recover and that many would question whether he would ever be the same player again. That was rather comforting. He also felt that the Celtics recent issues were related more to execution than a lack of effort, to which Justin agreed and placed more emphasis on the mental rather than the physical failures of the team. We then discussed the play of Rajon Rondo who Jon, typically only effusive in his praise, felt was deserving of some criticism. Scott countered that the criticism of Rondo may be overblown and stated that, statistically speaking, this may be Rondo's best start to a season.
